End-User Development
This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 6th International Symposium on End-User Development, IS-EUD 2017, held in Eindhoven, The Netherlands, in June 2017. The 10 full papers and 3 short papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from 26 submissions. According to the theme of the conference "that was business, this is personal" the papers address the personal involvement and engagement of end-users, the application of end-user programming beyond the professional environment looking also at discretionary use of technologies. They also deal with topics covered by the broader area of end-user development such as domain specific tools, spreadsheets, and end user aspects.

This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 9th International Symposium on End-User Development, IS-EUD 2023, held in Cagliari, Italy, during June 6–8, 2023. The 17 full papers and 2 (keynote extended abstracts) included in this book were carefully reviewed and selected from 26 submissions. They were organized in topical sections as follows: Artificial Intelligence for End-Users; Internet of Things for End-Users; Privacy; Security and Society; Supporting End-User Development.
End-User Development
This book constitutes the proceedings of the 8th International Conference on End-User Development, IS-EUD 2021, held in July 2021. Due to COVID-19 pandemic the conference was held virtually. The paper track received 26 submissions, of which 11 full and 4 short papers were selected after a rigorous double-blind review process. The papers focus on “Democratizing AI development”, namely on EUD for AI-based systems, where end users are called-on to become end-user developers of intelligent agents, digital twins, collaborative systems and social robots.

The most common document formalisation for text classi?cation is the vector space model founded on the bag of words/phrases representation. The main advantage of the vector space model is that it can readily be employed by classi?cation - gorithms. However, the bag of words/phrases representation is suited to capturing only word/phrase frequency; structural and semantic information is ignored. It has been established that structural information plays an important role in classi?cation accuracy [14]. An alternative to the bag of words/phrases representation is a graph based rep- sentation, which intuitively possesses much more expressive power. However, this representation introduces an additional level of complexity in that the calculation of the similarity between two graphs is signi?cantly more computationally expensive than between two vectors (see for example [16]). Some work (see for example [12]) has been done on hybrid representations to capture both structural elements (- ing the graph model) and signi?cant features using the vector model. However the computational resources required to process this hybrid model are still extensive.
End-User Development
This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the Third International Symposium on End-User Development, IS-EUD 2011, held in Torre Canne, Italy, in June 2011. The 14 long papers and 21 short papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected for inclusion in the book. In addition the volume contains 2 keynote speeches, 14 doctoral consortia, and information on 3 workshops. The contributions are organized in topical sections on mashups, frameworks, users as co-designers, infrastructures, methodologies and guidelines, beyond the desktop, end-user development in the workplace, meta-design, and supporting end-user developers.
Argumentation Machines
In the late 1990s, AI witnessed an increasing use of the term 'argumentation' within its bounds: in natural language processing, in user interface design, in logic programming and nonmonotonic reasoning, in Al's interface with the legal community, and in the newly emerging field of multi-agent systems. It seemed to me that many of these uses of argumentation were inspired by (of ten inspired) guesswork, and that a great majority of the AI community were unaware that there was a maturing, rich field of research in Argumentation Theory (and Critical Thinking and Informal Logic) that had been steadily re building a scholarly approach to the area over the previous twenty years or so. Argumentation Theory, on its side; was developing theories and approaches that many in the field felt could have a role more widely in research and soci ety, but were for the most part unaware that AI was one of the best candidates for such application.

This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the Fourth International Symposium on End-User Development, IS-EUD 2013, held in Copenhagen, Denmark, in June 2013. The 13 full papers (45% acceptance rate) and 11 short papers (50% acceptance rate) have been presented at the event. In addition the volume contains two keynote speeches, three doctoral consortia papers, and information on 2 workshops. The papers provide a broad overview of the current state of End-User Development research.
AI - Limits and Prospects of Artificial Intelligence
The emergence of artificial intelligence has triggered enthusiasm and promise of boundless opportunities as much as uncertainty about its limits.
