Schwuler* Fußball
Durch Sprache diskriminiert und lange Zeit tabuisiert: schwule Fußballer. 2015 haben sie mit dem Coming-out des ehemaligen deutschen Nationalspielers Thomas Hitzlsperger eines ihrer ersten und prominentesten Gesichter erhalten. Jenseits von Scheinwerferlicht und Einzelfällen nimmt diese ethnografische Studie erstmalig den Alltag von schwulen* Fußballteams im Freizeit- und Amateurbereich in den Fokus. Die teilnehmende Beobachtung als Spieler-Trainer führte Stefan Heissenberger auf die Vorder- und Hinterbühnen dieses Unterfeldes des heteronormativen Fußballs. Die Ergebnisse zu Vereinspolitik, Geselligkeit, schwulen* Turnieren und Männlichkeiten sowie deren Einbettung in »den« Fußball setzen neue Impulse für die sozialwissenschaftliche und gesellschaftspolitische Auseinandersetzung mit der weltweit bedeutsamsten Sportart.

New Ethnographies of Football in Europe
Football has emerged as an important symbolic field through which various social, cultural, political, economic, and historical dimensions and antagonisms are negotiated. This volume covers a variety of themes illuminating the multiple ways that football impacts on people's everyday lives. Using anthropological research methods and data collected from ethnographic fieldwork, the contributors scrutinize not only the social fields of football fans and the specific socio-cultural contexts in which they are embedded, but also other actors beyond the pitch, and the possibilities for both agency and subversion. Taking into account processes of Europeanization, globalization, commercialization and migration, the collection offers fresh insights into fan identity formations and practices and highlights the importance of anthropology's self-reflexive and actor-centred perspective.

The playing fields of football are built with the profound values of fair play, equality and mutual respect -- they sometimes also display unacceptable racist, xenophobic and intolerant views. To counter this challenge, UNESCO is acting across the board with all its partners. In 2009, the European Club Association signed, on behalf of its 144 members, a Declaration promoting the inclusion of anti-discrimination and anti-racism clauses in players{u2019} contracts. Since then, in multiple partnerships with football clubs {u2013} including Barcelona and Malaga FC (Spain), Ruby Shenzhen (China), Al Hilal (Saudi Arabia) and recently with Juventus Football Club (Italy) -- UNESCO has placed emphasis on the role of clubs in propagating the essential messages of tolerance, respect and inclusion. Queere Vielfalt im Fußball
Soccer (football) could become an arena that showcases queer diversity and reflects the progress that society has made in accepting and embracing LGBTIQ* communities worldwide. The sport’s wide-reaching popular significance, its ability to unify, and its highly publicized nature predestines soccer for being an outlet that continues to increase the visibility of LGBTIQ*-identifying athletes. This anthology strives to contribute to an ongoing exchange on conditions for more sexual and gender diversity. The scientific contributions discuss steps towards their sustainable realization from a variety of scholarly and empirical perspectives.
