This book constitutes revised selected papers from two workshops held at the 18th European Conference on Machine Learning and Knowledge Discovery in Databases, ECML PKDD 2018, in Dublin, Ireland, in September 2018, namely: MIDAS 2018 – Third Workshop on Mining Data for Financial Applications and PAP 2018 – Second International Workshop on Personal Analytics and Privacy. The 12 papers presented in this volume were carefully reviewed and selected from a total of 17 submissions.
This book constitutes revised selected papers from the 4th Workshop on Mining Data for Financial Applications, MIDAS 2019, held in conjunction with ECML PKDD 2019, in Würzburg, Germany, in September 2019. The 8 full and 3 short papers presented in this volume were carefully reviewed and selected from 16 submissions. They deal with challenges, potentialities, and applications of leveraging data-mining tasks regarding problems in the financial domain.
This book contains the proceedings of the conference on Compact Moduli and Vector Bundles, held from October 21-24, 2010, at the University of Georgia. This book is a mix of survey papers and original research articles on two related subjects: Compact Moduli spaces of algebraic varieties, including of higher-dimensional stable varieties and pairs, and Vector Bundles on such compact moduli spaces, including the conformal block bundles. These bundles originated in the 1970s in physics; the celebrated Verlinde formula computes their ranks. Among the surveys are those that examine compact moduli spaces of surfaces of general type and others that concern the GIT constructions of log canonical models of moduli of stable curves. The original research articles include, among others, papers on a formula for the Chern classes of conformal classes of conformal block bundles on the moduli spaces of stable curves, on Looijenga's conjectures, on algebraic and tropical Brill-Noether theory, on Green's conjecture, on rigid curves on moduli of curves, and on Steiner surfaces.
Several important aspects of moduli spaces and irreducible holomorphic symplectic manifolds were highlighted at the conference “Algebraic and Complex Geometry” held September 2012 in Hannover, Germany. These two subjects of recent ongoing progress belong to the most spectacular developments in Algebraic and Complex Geometry. Irreducible symplectic manifolds are of interest to algebraic and differential geometers alike, behaving similar to K3 surfaces and abelian varieties in certain ways, but being by far less well-understood. Moduli spaces, on the other hand, have been a rich source of open questions and discoveries for decades and still continue to be a hot topic in itself as well as with its interplay with neighbouring fields such as arithmetic geometry and string theory. Beyond the above focal topics this volume reflects the broad diversity of lectures at the conference and comprises 11 papers on current research from different areas of algebraic and complex geometry sorted in alphabetic order by the first author. It also includes a full list of speakers with all titles and abstracts.
This volume reports on the cognitive survey carried out in the Hall of Supreme Harmony of the Forbidden City in Beijing by the Directorate General for the Architectural and Landscape Heritage between November 2003 and April 2004. It aims at providing a thorough reading of geometries, matters and building features of the Taihe dian, through a "reverse path" to knowledge starting from the tangible document of the building. A scientific report rooted in a long tradition of cultural heritage management, which considers the divulgation of the outcomes of any research as an essential prerequisite for knowledge sharing.

This book presents mathematical, programming and statistical tools used in the real world analysis and modeling of financial data. The tools are used to model asset returns, measure risk, and construct optimized portfolios using the open source R programming language and Microsoft Excel. The author explains how to build probability models for asset returns, to apply statistical techniques to evaluate if asset returns are normally distributed, to use Monte Carlo simulation and bootstrapping techniques to evaluate statistical models, and to use optimization methods to construct efficient portfolios.
