The European Union and its Political Leaders
This book focuses on the impact of political leaders on the integration process led by the European Union. It aims at a better understanding of the European Union through the actions, contributions, and ideas of these outstanding characters to European integration and disintegration. By doing so, the book offers an entirely new perspective, presenting the actions of the main actors involved, their background, their historical time, their challenges and problems, and how they influenced the European Union's development. Food loss and waste and the right to adequate food: Making the connection
This Discussion paper explores the relationship between food loss and waste (FLW) and the right to adequate food. It focuses on the need to develop sustainable global consumption and production systems to contribute to the realization of the right to adequate food while it argues for a human rights-based approach to tackle FLW. As such, it presents key notions of FLW and expands on their impact for the realization of the right to adequate food. Simultaneously, it looks into the different components of the right to adequate food and offers ways through which its legal obligations could help processes and initiatives aimed at reducing FLW. The Discussion paper argues for a more holistic approach to reducing FLW and guaranteeing the right of each person to feed herself or himself in dignity. Protection of the Gender-Based Violence Victims in the European Union
In this publication the preliminary results are presented of the European Epogender project “Gender violence: protocols for the protection of victims and effectiveness of protection orders. Towards and efficient implementation of Directive 2011/99/EU”, carried out under the Daphne III Programme (2007-2013) of the European Union. The handbook focuses on the analysis of the national legislation of the EU Member States regarding protection measures for the victims of gender violence, as well as the issues that may arise in applying the European protection order.
