Artiste Stephan Balkenhol, Œuvre Petit Nu
Stephan Balkenhol réalise des objets sériels. Tout en interrogeant l'histoire de la sculpture, il entretient un rapport étroit avec la matière et joue sur le décalage des échelles. La figure de Petit nu semble être une excroissance surgie du bloc/socle. La femme, ainsi juchée au sommet de ce grand parallélépipède, se présente comme un petit ± objet " précieux. Elle est sculptée directement dans la masse du bois et présente quelques traces de polychromie qui rappellent la statuaire médiévale ou la sculpture expressionniste. L'aspect brut de l'ensemble témoigne de la volonté de laisser visibles les traces du travail, celles de la gouge. L'absence de gestuelle et d'expressivité des personnages de Stephan Balkenhol n'est pas synonyme d'incommunicabilité. Pour l'artiste, qui s'est également intéressé à la statuaire égyptienne, la personnalité ressort d'autant mieux que le visage demeure impassible.
