Museums reflect a nation's character, as well as define it. Museums around the world have been shaped by globalization, and in turn have shaped a global public's understanding of local, regional, or national identity. The Toeniskoetter Genealogy: From Hoetmar to St. Louis
Bernhard Heinrich Toeniskoetter (1820-1900), a son of Jodocus Heinrich Tonniskotter and Anna Maria Rickmeyer, was born in Germany. He immigrated to the United States in 1847, settling in St. Louis, and married Theresia Buecker Schneiderhahn in 1848. They had seven children. Most descendants live in the surrounding area.
