Led by the Spirit is an interdisciplinary analysis and evaluation of people's claims to divine guidance that contributes to the understanding of these experiences at two levels. In terms of methodology, this study is an exercise in practical theology - a means of deriving explanations of God, self, and world from the actions of a community of faith - with the practices associated with discernment and decision making in the Pentecostal tradition being the focal point for reflection. In terms of content, insight from object relations psychology and Tillich's theology are woven together with explanations from Pentecostal believers to provide a multilayered understanding and evaluation of the meaning and significance of these experiences. In this expanded version the author offers an updated bibliography and additional reflections to each of the previous chapters.
Brief Reflection of a Man's Soul
The evolution of Stephen Parker is oceanic and although I could take you up and down some of the paths I have chosen in life, I have chosen rather to give you life on a much broader scale. Through my eyes you have seen life from many different views and through it all I left you with room to change for the better. You see, it’s not where we come from that makes us who we are, but where we want to go and how bad we want to get there. I have learned that people will not change their situation until they get tired of it. So, my question for you is “are you tired yet?” The book was therapeutic for me in which I released A Brief Reflection of a Man’s Soul, but for you it could be light in a tunnel you thought you were coming to the end of or you could read and ponder with the idea of being free, but let what you see keep you grounded and never reach for all that you could be. Improving Religious Education Through Teacher Training
This book brings together two topics which have both been of increasing interest in different countries. The first refers to the quality of Religious Education as a school subject (RE) in general, the second is about the education of teachers of RE and its possible contribution to better quality RE. There have been many public, and often controversial, debates concerning both of these topics. The chapters contained in this volume, however, are not meant to continue such debates (even if it is inevitable that they will contribute to these debates as well), but to make use of research, especially research on teacher education in the field of RE, in order to provide insights based not just on political or personal opinions, but on rigorous academic scholarship.
