Sung Hwan Kim

This is the first monographic publication devoted to the work of Sung Hwan Kim, published in conjunction with his solo exhibition at Witte de With, curated by Eva Huttenlauch and Nicolaus Schafhausen. Kim experiments with narrative formats using video and performance, as well as installation. Collecting and collaging encounters, images, sounds, and objects from his changing domiciles of Seoul, Amsterdam and New York he portrays his world with lyric complexity. Previously a resident of the Netherlands, Kim spent two years as fellow at the Rijksakademie in 2004/2005 and in 2007, he won both the 2nd prize of the prestigious Dutch award the Prix de Rome and the Korean award Hermes Korea Missulsang (Hermes Korea Prize for Contemporary Art). The Sourcebook offers a multifaceted encounter with his work via the artist's own writing, a conversation with his friend and mentor Joan Jonas, an account of his Prix de Rome performance by Ann Demeester, as well as an essay on uses of sound by the Harvard-based professor Luis E. Cárcamo-Huechante; with an introductory essay by Eva Huttenlauch.

This book addresses the true innovation in engineering design that may be promoted by blending together models and methodologies from different disciplines, and, in this book, the target was exactly to follow this approach to deliver a new disruptive architecture to deliver these next-generation mobile small cell technologies. According to this design philosophy, the work within this book resides in the intersection of engineering paradigms that includes “cooperation”, “network coding”, and “smart energy-aware frontends”. These technologies will not only be considered as individual building blocks, but re-engineered according to an inter-design approach resulting in the enabler f...

The Second International Conference on Hybrid Learning was organized by the School of Continuing and Professional Studies of The Chinese University of Hong Kong and University of Macau in August 2009. ICHL 2009 was an inventive experience for the Hong Kong and Macau tertiary higher education. The conference aims to provide a good platform for knowledge exchange on hybrid learning by focusing on student centered education. The technique is to supplement traditional classroom learning with eLearning. The slogan is “Education leads eLearning,” not vice versa. The me- odology is that at least 30% of learning activities are done by eLearning. The outcome is for students to learn at any time a...
