Plants and People
This first monograph in the EARTH series, The dynamics of non-industrial agriculture: 8,000 years of resilience and innovation, approaches the great variety of agricultural practices in human terms. It focuses on the relationship between plants and people, the complexity of agricultural processes and their organisation within particular communities and societies. Collaborative European research among archaeologists, archaeobotanists, ethnographers, historians and agronomists using a broad analytical scale of investigation seeks to establish new common ground for integrating different approaches. Los iberos constituyen una de las culturas más interesantes del Mediterráneo antiguo, un rico mosaico de pueblos distribuidos por la fachada oriental y el sur de la Península Ibérica, desde la provenza francesa hasta Cádiz. La arqueología se acerca a su tiempo y a sus territorios con el objetivo de analizar sus procesos históricos y, en general, la transformación de las formas de vida en los siglos anteriores a la conquista romana. Los iberos eligieron las imágenes como un medio de expresión para exponer creencias y construir sus discursos. Examinarlas nos permite asomarnos a cómo concibieron el medio natural que les rodeaba. Ellas nos ayudan a conocer esta parte de nuestra rica herencia cultural.
El santuari ibèric de la cova de les Encantades del Montcabrer (Cabrera de Mar, Barcelona)
En aquest treball s'estudien les dades referents al santuari ibèric de la Cova de les Encantades del Montcabrer, que presenta un gran volum de material arqueològic. Cronològicament cal situar-lo entre els segles IV aC i II dC, com a lloc on es practicaven sobretot rituals d'ofrena i de comensalitat. Fins alguna resta permet afirmar que el lloc encara fou visitat esporàdicament amb finalitats cúltiques en la tardoantiguitat. L'anàlisi inclou l'estudi del material preibèric, datable majoritàriament en l’edat del bronze, que a priori no tindria a veure amb cap cerimonial religiós.
Santuarios, oppida y ciudades
En este volumen se presentan los resultados científicos del IV Simposio de Arqueología de Mérida que, organizado por el Instituto de Arqueología de Mérida y el Consorcio de la Ciudad Monumental, pretende descifrar las claves que promovieron el nacimiento de la "urbs" y su expansión por el Mediterráneo occidental, analizando tanto sus precedentes como los mecanismos que permitirán el desarrollo urbano más generalizado a partir de la romanización.
Entre textos e imágenes
"Entre textos e imágenes" es producto de un acuerdo de colaboración entre americanistas de España y Francia para el estudio de la representación narrativa e iconográfica de la alteridad amerindia por parte del humanismo y la ciencia occidentales, desde el s. XVI hasta la actualidad. El material examinado no habla tanto de la realidad externa representada como de la intención de sus usuarios y sus circunstancias. Hasta el inicio del s. XVIII, las imágenes tenían una función pretendidamente ilustrativa de los textos, pero a partir de esa fecha empezaron a adquirir otro estatuto que ofreciese incluso una función de documentación o certificación legitimadora de las condiciones sociopolíticas del momento.
