Aschemünder
Aschemünder marks the beginning of a collaboration between the Goetz Collection and the Haus der Kunst in Munich. Staged in an old bunker, the first exhibition naturally enough explores themes of war and violence, in video works by 14 international artists including Juan Manuel Echavarría, Marcel Odenbach and Tracey Moffatt.
Flora
The work originally conceived by the artist couple Hubbard / Birchler for the Swiss Pavilion at the 2017 Venice Biennale re-constructs the life story of the American artist Flora Mayo. Mayo had a romantic relationship in the 1920s with the Swiss sculptor Alberto Giacometti. While he is now one of the most famous artists of the twentieth century, her work was de-stroyed, and her life forgotten. Hubbard / Birchler reanimate Mayo's compelling biography from a feminist perspective, combining reconstruction and documentation to create a multilayered form of narrative. The catalogue, produced for the current exhibition at the Sammlung Goetz, elucidates the research the artists engaged in and documents the installa-tion in an impressive manner

Why I Never Became a Dancer looks at works by 15 video artists who have addressed themes of adolescence and social adaptation: Tobias Zielony, Martin Brand, Paul Pfieffer, Doug Aitken, Rosemarie Trockel, Rineke Dijkstra, Ryan Trecartin, Andrea Bowers, Cao Fei, Beat Streuli, Gillian Wearing, Nina Könnemann, Mark Leckey and Tracey Emin.

Ästhetik der Rührung
Rührung ist ein vertrautes, aber nur selten reflektiertes Gefühl. Im doppelten Sinn ist es «wenig angesehen»: Nicht nur hat es bislang vergleichsweise wenig wissenschaftliche Aufmerksamkeit erfahren, es wird auch schnell – gerade wenn es im Kontext von Kunst auftritt – als Anzeichen für fehlende Tiefe gesehen. Roger Fayet sucht in seiner Auseinandersetzung mit möglicherweise rührenden Kunstwerken nach einem besseren Verständnis dieses Gefühls, das er im Kontext ästhetischer Erfahrung sowie im Licht historischer und gegenwärtiger Theorien betrachtet. Er erkundet sein Thema in einem weiten zeitlichen Horizont: von der Ästhetik der Antike bis in die Kunst und Kunsttheorie der Gegenwart.

Imagination Becomes Reality Pa
This fifth installation from the world-renowned Goetz Collection showcases eight artists born between 1949 and 1976, including James Casebere, Barnaby Hosking, Zilla Leutenegger, Magnus Plessen, Wilhelm Sasnal, Dana Schutz, Laurie Simmons and Matthias Weischer. Casebere and Simmons are likely the best known to most readers; the third featured American artist, Dana Schutz, born in 1976, creates politically tinged fairytale figures and narratives in paint, like "the last man in the world." Among her European compatriots are Hosking, born in 1976, who makes video installations on how works of art are created, from paintings to bowls for Japanese tea ceremonies. Wilhelm Sasnal, born in 1972, began by studying architecture; his films use press photos, collages, videos, comics, old-master paintings and simple snapshots. This series' topic is broadly defined as contemporary painting, and its hallmark--as the genre's--may be that its canvases vary widely from the traditional cloth.
