Magnetic Resonance in Biological Systems, Volume 9 is a collection of manuscripts presented at the Second International Conference on Magnetic Resonance in Biological Systems, held in Wenner-Gren Center, Stockholm, Sweden on June 1966. The conference is sponsored by International Union of Biochemistry Swedish Medical Research Council Swedish Natural Science Research Council Wenner-Gren Center Foundation for Scientific Research. This book contains 51 chapters, and begins with reviews of NMR investigations of biological macromolecules, including proteins, amino acids, and glycylglycine copper (II). Considerable chapters are devoted to numerous biological studies using the electronic paramagnetic resonance (EPR), thus introducing the branch of science called submolecular biology. This book also explores other applications of NMR and EPR, with special emphasis on blood component analysis and protein-metal complexes. The final chapters survey the principles and applications of Mössbauer spectroscopy. This book will prove useful to analytical chemists and biologists.

Ground Water Problems
Ground Water Problems, Volume 11 presents the proceedings of the International Symposium held in Stockholm, Sweden in October 1966. The book covers the influence of topography on ground water formation; the ground water in Precambrian rocks in Southern Sweden; and the ground water conditions in the sedimentary rocks of Scania. The Vanguard
When a prince finds his soul mate in an enemy soldier, he must fight everyone around him to keep his love. Prince Rathian is the Imperator—or Supreme Commander—of the Vanguard, the most elite unit in the Launioc army. His men fight not only for their country and Prince, but they fight for each other. Launioc's King sends the army into war against Villious and their Queen. Stakel is a Queen's Consort and is abandoned by his fellow Consorts during a battle with the Vanguard. Taken prisoner, he finds himself learning about the enemy he'd been taught to hate. Stakel has been forced to do things he hated and fight for a ruler he owes no loyalty. In Rathian, Stakel finds not only a ruler, but a lover to whom he can give all of himself.
Vanguard I Satellite Structure and Separation Mechanism
A reevaluation of the Vanguard program objectives in January 1957 resulted in the production of the Vanguard I Satellite, a 6.44-inch-diameter, 3.25-pound sphere with six equally spaced solar cell clusters and six equally spaced antennas mounted on its surface. Experiment requirements necessitated the development of a mechanism to separate the satellite from the third-stage rocket. On the basis of the existing standard separation mechanism, a strap pull-pin girth-ring arrangement was developed. Both the satellite and the separation mechanism were fully tested prior to flight. Successful orbiting and flight operation proved the adequacy of the design.
EPR of Free Radicals in Solids
EPR of Free Radicals in Solids: Trends in Methods and Applications presents methods and applications of modern EPR for the study of free radical processes in solids, which so far are only available in the journal literature. The first part of the book, covering trends in methods, contains experimentally oriented chapters on continuous wave and pulsed EPR techniques and special methods involving muon magnetic resonance and optical detection and theory for dynamic studies. New simulation schemes, including the influence of dynamics, are presented as well as advances in the calculation of hyperfine and electronic g-tensors. The second part of the book presents applications involving studies of radiation and photo-induced inorganic and organic radicals in inert matrices, including novel results of quantum effects in small radicals. High-spin molecules and complexes are also considered as well as radical processes in photosynthesis. Recent advances in EPR dosimetry are summarized.
