Albanian: Dallime të vogla: Ligjërimet muslimano-kristiane të El-Aluanit 2010-2017 (Fine Differences: The Al-Alwani Muslim-Christian Lectures 2010-2017)

Reaffirming our joint spiritual journey to God, and spiritual responsibility towards humanity is the burden we all share and the antidote to bigotry, prejudice, and all those ideologies that betray mankind’s sense of compassion and justice. Wholeness – despite our persisting fine differences – for society and for persons is the theme of this Muslim-Christian dialogue sustained for six years in Washington, D.C. The power of faith is the power to unite and the recognition of commonalities through the medium of communication is one path to achieve this, and one element of Iraqi legal scholar Taha Jabir al-Alwani’s greater vision. In 2007 a conversation began between John W. Crossin, a p...

The Group 13 Metals Aluminium, Gallium, Indium and Thallium

The last two decades have seen a renaissance in interest in the chemistry of the main group elements. In particular research on the metals of group 13 (aluminium, gallium, indium and thallium) has led to the synthesis and isolation of some very novel and unusual molecules, with implications for organometallic synthesis, new materials development, and with biological, medical and, environmental relevance. The Group 13 Metals Aluminium, Gallium, Indium and Thallium aims to cover new facts, developments and applications in the context of more general patterns of physical and chemical behaviour. Particular attention is paid to the main growth areas, including the chemistry of lower formal oxidat...

Bosnian : Teaching Children: A Moral, Spiritual, and Holistic Approach to Educational Development

The author explores education from the essential principles of Tawhid (Oneness of God, humanity, knowledge); fitrah (concept of human nature); and the role of humans as vicegerents of God on earth (responsibility and stewardship). The current education system dates back a hundred years or more, and is in desperate need of a 'reboot'. In developing the industrialized society, the education system itself became like a factory, the end product being pupils who merely regurgitate facts, and themselves end up as cogs in the machine that is the wider industrial complex. The legacy of this is a soulless ‘functional’ educational system that fails to develop pupils to meet the present and future needs of individuals and their expectations. This failure inevitably impacts on society and humanity at large. Society has long since moved beyond the industrial revolution and into an age of global connectedness where the sum of human knowledge is freely available via the internet. It is an age where people are generally more well informed and on a variety of issues.

Distortion of Islam

Why is the Muslim world so backward? Why are Muslims' lands extorted, their wealth grabbed, their blood cheaply spilled, and justice absent under the tyrants (the taghoots in Qur'anic terms) in the Muslim world? Why are the clerics so ignorant and ill-informed? Why do the masses cling so tightly to ignorance, yet brag of being a Muslim community? The solutions that are suggested for the crises seem to worsen them rather than resolve them. Those who have discussed the crises usually blame others for the strife: some blame the agony of the Muslim world on the West, on colonialism, and so forth. But there is no avoiding the fact that no nation is conquered by other nations until it has first brought down its self-destruction. Tyranny, for instance, does not emerge in a vacuum. So how does a tyrant enslave another human being, a whole nation, or several nations? For such questions, we seek answers in the Qur'an and the sayings of Jesus. This book's purpose is to bring people out of the present darkness, to show them a way out of the current chaos in which mankind is immersed, a chaos which engulfs and stifles human nature.

Historical Dictionary of the Ismailis

The Ismaili Muslims, who belong to the Shia branch of Islam, live in over 25 different countries around the world, mainly in Asia, Africa and the Middle East. Their history has typically been linked to the history of the various countries in which they live, but the worldwide community is united under Prince Karim Aga Khan, the spiritual leader and 49th Imam of the Ismaili Muslims. Few fields of Islamic studies have witnessed as drastic a change as Ismaili studies, due in part to the recent discovery of numerous historical texts, and author Farhad Daftary makes extensive use of these new sources in the Historical Dictionary of the Ismailis. This comprehensive new reference work is the first ...

A fourth section is devoted to innovations in epoxy-based materials such as adhesives, coatings, pre-pregs, structural foams, injection-molded products and self-healing epoxies. Concluding remarks and perspectives are discussed in a short final section. The result is a one-stop reference source, collecting scientific and technological breakthroughs otherwise spread over hundreds of publications, patents and reports.
