Unable to sleep, in this wordless graphic novella covering issues of consent, Tara Booth takes too much sleep medication and enters a dream soaked fantasia. A vivid and moody euphoric journey where dreams and hallucinations intersect.
This anthology of the illustrator’s New York Times blog features a chapter of all-new material: “a masterpiece of sophisticated humor” (Library Journal, starred review). In July 2008, illustrator and designer Christoph Niemann began Abstract City, a visual blog for the New York Times. His posts were inspired by the desire to re-create simple and everyday observations and stories from his own life that everyone could relate to. In Niemann’s hands, mundane experiences such as riding the subway or trying to get a good night’s sleep were transformed into delightful flights of visual fancy. In Abstract City, the struggle to keep up with housework becomes a battle against adorable but crafty goblins, and nostalgia about New York manifests in simple but strikingly spot-on LEGO creations. This brilliantly illustrated collection of reflections on modern life includes all sixteen of the original blog posts as well as a new chapter created exclusively for the book.

A personal message from the author: Lots of individuals in society today are feeble-minded. They don't know what the HELL is going on. Unfortunately many of these people are responsible for running THE COUNTRY. They don't know the difference between a PRECIOUS JEWEL and a piece of animal turd. Their ideas are MEANINGLESS, illustrated using RUBBISH imagery (often made by a computer). The stupid words they write are always in BAD FONTS. Yet still people HEED this nonsense. Maybe YOU are one of these people? It's alright. I am here to HELP you. I have a FULLY-COMPOSED WORLD VIEW. I have STRONG opinions about EVERYTHING. And my ideas are HAND-ILLUSTRATED and use REAL HANDWRITING that you can trust. I know exactly what's going on and am WILLING to share my thoughts with you. If you LISTEN to what I say then things will quickly improve. No more weak messages. No more bad situations. Shall we proceed?
'Language is a body, a living creature ... and this creature's home is the inarticulate as well as the articulate'. John Berger's work has revolutionized the way we understand visual language. In this new book he writes about language itself, and how it relates to thought, art, song, storytelling and political discourse today. Also containing Berger's own drawings, notes, memories and reflections on everything from Albert Camus to global capitalism, Confabulations takes us to what is 'true, essential and urgent'.

Inside & Falling Away is a fictional autobiographical coming-of-age story that follows three young men: Will Haywood, Ronny Connor, Jim Owens, and several of their friends. While they are all from diverse geographical and cultural backgrounds, they come from similar Christian homes benefitting from the 1970s American Dream. As the young men navigate a year at a Christian university in the 1980s, theirs is an insular world from which they are trying to break free. Becoming interested in things that their family, church, and university frown upon, their desire to explore life comes head-to-head with duty, responsibility, authority, and faith. The young men discover a new world full of confidence, love, exhilaration, pain, self-discovery, sex, and pride—tempered by inevitable self-doubt, insecurity, and fear of the future. Inside & Falling Away invites readers to participate in the emotions, experiences, and passion of youth in a more innocent time.
