As palavras fortes de Daniel Munduruku refletem pedaços de um caminho que encontrei ao caminhar pelas estradas da formação de professores. O traçado dessa estrada percorrida se entrecruza com muitas outras, que se sobrepõem, se bifurcam, desviam e tornam a encontrar-se. E, assim como Munduruku, muitas vezes me pergunto se o caminho que faço ao caminhar foi inventado por alguém, ou se sou a única responsável por ele. Não sei responder com precisão, mas talvez isso não seja o mais importante, porque o que realmente importa, são os encontros, desvios, bifurcações e reencontros que esse caminhar me possibilita. E foi a autora desse livro, que antes de ser livro foi uma pesquisa de mestrado, quem me possibilitou tomar outros caminhos, desviar os olhares e conhecer outro universo. Sua inquietude e inconformidade diante da abordagem da temática da educação escolar indígena no último semestre do curso de Pedagogia da Universidade Federal de Sergipe, resultou nas reflexões sobre a formação do Pedagogo para o Ensino de História e Cultura Afro-brasileira e Indígena, na Universidade Federal de Sergipe.

A educação escolar indígena em alagoas: espaços, processos históricos e debates
Sabemos que a Escola originalmente é uma intuição colonial, colonizadora e por muito tempo foi um espaço importante de reprodução das ideias dos grupos hegemônicos no poder. E mais ainda em se tratando dos povos indígenas, a escola durante muitos anos teve como objetivo catequisar/educar/civilizar buscando moldar, recusando a identidade do indígena, para afirmá-lo como não indígena e obviamente negar-lhe os direitos específicos. Situação que perdurou em muito no Brasil, até a promulgação da Constituição Federal em 1988, quando a partir de intensas mobilizações os povos indígenas conquistaram na Carta Magna e legislação posterior o reconhecimento das expressões socioculturais e o direito a uma escola específica, diferenciada e intercultural.

Este livro é resultado da dissertação do mestrado vinculado ao Programa de Pós-Graduação Interdisciplinar em Culturas Populares (PPGCULT) da Universidade Federal de Sergipe (UFS), tendo como título "A Festa da Retomada: uma Celebração Identitária de ser Xokó na Ilha de São Pedro – Porto da Folha/SE". A pesquisa teve como propósito norteador a investigação dos elementos constituintes da cerimônia da retomada, que configuraram um ambiente de análise sobre a autoafirmação identitária dos indígenas Xokó. A escrita do livro inspira o leitor a navegar nas palavras e em todo processo investigativo dos inúmeros momentos da pesquisa.
