2040 is the year in which nothing can be grown from our Earth’s soil anymore. Extreme weather becomes incrementally frequent and devastating, dwindling food production as crops and livestocks die before harvesting. Even seafood isn’t available due to severe pollution. Food becomes increasingly expensive and inaccessible due to the lack of supply. Eventually, the world suffers from hunger. Professor Caesar Claudius MacDonald, an expert with several PhD in Genetics, yearns to alleviate such food shortage. With the help of his assistants Grace Merce and Judson Cotter, Caesar invented a meat animal named proteinball (later called butterballs) which has a 2 year life-cycle, both heat and cold resistance, and is edible down to the bones. His next step is to feed his livestocks with pure chemicals so that meat won’t be competing food with humans. Yet obstacles spawn when his beasts couldn’t digest all the feed. Desperate, he turns to an unexpected yet controversial life form to fill in the DNA of his inventions. With the genes of said creatures he succeeded. The Windownesian
The Windownesian series features the adventures of the university student Jonathan Wills with his friends Meander, Athena, Zedekiah, as well as his roommates Alex the AI and Bobby the Alien. Each chapter centres around one topic, recording our characters experiencing it, and discussing it. Cyborg combines both AI and humans. Broad-sword and Single-Stick
In Broad-sword and Single-Stick, authors Winn and Wolley state: "One of the prettiest little compliments you can pay a man is to call him a 'good old sportsman'." This may be true, particularly in 1918, when the book was initially published. In it, the authors aim to educate those "good old sportsmen" on techniques of fighting and defense with the broadsword (a medieval throwback) and the single-stick, a wooden weapon with a basket hilt vaguely reminiscent of a fencing foil. Dripping with English machismo, it shouldn't come as a surprise that Allanson-Winn, 5th Baron Headley was also a boxing enthusiast and wrote a book on that subject as well. What may come as a surprise, however, is that in 1913 the Baron converted to Islam, and authored several books on Islam under the name Shaikh Rahmatullah al-Farooq.
