New Directions in the Radical Reformation
The eight essays in this volume approach the study of the Radical Reformation from new perspectives and challenge some of the basic assumptions of the field. Some critique and problematize the typologies developed to distinguish Reformation radicals from each other and from the Magisterial Reformers. Others apply an equally iconoclastic approach to existing scholarship on the relationship between religious change and socio-political radicalism in early modern Europe. A final group concentrate specifically on revising the history of Anabaptism by tracing its long-term development across the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries and recovering the lives of normal Anabaptists to write a true social history of the movement that avoids relying on the biographies and prescriptive writings of its leadership.

Tumor Ablation
The growing knowledge on tumor-immune response interactions and on the tumor microenvironment did not translate so far into better control of cancer by anti-tumor vaccination. The percentage of patients who benefited from vaccination strategies is still too small to justify their general use. Religieuze migratie
De actuele aandacht voor migratie wekt de indruk dat het om een modern fenomeen gaat. Mensen zijn echter altijd onderweg geweest en Europa heeft vaker grote groepen vluchtelingen gezien. In de kerkgeschiedenis is migratie altijd een belangrijk thema geweest. Volgens Augustinus zijn gelovigen per definitie pelgrims. Het verlangen om het werelds gewoel te verlaten nam vaak concrete vormen aan: woestijnvaders richtten zich in eenzame verlatenheid op God en middeleeuwse pelgrims reisden naar heilige plaatsen. Deze religieuze ijver was altijd vermengd met handelsgeest en nieuwsgierigheid. Tijdens de Reformatie kreeg religieuze migratie een nieuwe dimensie. Het hardnekkige streven de middeleeuwse eenheid tussen burgerlijke en kerkelijke samenleving te bewaren leidde tot uitbarstingen van geweld. Net als hun vervolgers werden vluchtelingen gedreven door verlangen naar religieuze zuiverheid en interpreteerden hun lotgevallen in een religieus kader. In dit themanummer aandacht voor doopsgezinde migratie door de eeuwen heen.
