A genealogical dictionary of our early colonists. Every volume shows three generations of those who came before 1692. Although more than a century has elapsed since the publication of this monumental work, it remains the standard to our day. We do not mean that new information has not been unearthed or that the work is free from errors, but Savage had just the peculiar qualifications necessary. He was so persistent in gathering data and so conservative in his use of them, that a statement made on his authority bears great weight. This work has the whole of New England for its field. History of Perquimans County
Here is a county history that is extraordinarily rich in primary source materials, including abstracts of deeds from 1681 through the Revolutionary War period and, moreover, petitions, divisions of estates, wills, and marriages found in the records of Perquimans and adjacent North Carolina counties. Numbering in the tens of thousands, the records provide the names of all principal parties and related family members, places of residence and migration, descriptions of real and personal property, dates, boundary surveys, names of executors, witnesses, and appraisers, and dates of recording. Altogether, the index contains references to about 35,000 persons! Researchers should note that Perquimans was one of the original North Carolina precincts--with very close ties to the southeastern Virginia counties of Norfolk, Princess Anne, Nansemond, and Isle of Wight--and for many years had fluid boundaries with the North Carolina counties of Chowan, Gates, and Pasquotank.
A History of the Early Settlement of Newton, County of Middlesex, Massachusetts
This work is based upon the parish register from 1757 to 1906 of the Reformed Church in New Hackensack, New York. The church was founded by a mixture of Dutch, Walloon, Palatine, and British individuals who found their way to New Hackensack in Dutchess County from New York City, Westchester, Long Island, and, obviously, New Jersey. The register itself includes 2,500 baptismal records followed by marriage records from 1765 to 1906, stating the names of the bride and groom, the date of the marriage, the name of the officiating minister, and sometimes such details as place of birth or residence.
