Nothing But My Body

People always ask if I enjoy the sex I have with clients or if I have to fake it, as if the two are mutually exclusive and the interplay between them isn't more complex. In actuality, it depends. And I'm not sure what people are threatened by more-that I don't always love it, or that I don't always hate it.' Nothing But My Body is an eight-day journey through the mind of a young woman, a queer sex worker in Australia, as she navigates breakups and infatuation across just over a year. The unnamed narrator's voice is both fierce and vulnerable, defiant and tender, as she explores the interplay between her external and internal world, and the fluctuations of her emotions as love affairs intensi...

Queerstories

There's more to being queer than coming out and getting married. This exciting and contemporary collection contains stories that are as diverse as the LGBTQIA+ community from which they're drawn. From hilarious anecdotes of an awkward adolescence, to heartwarming stories of family acceptance and self-discovery, the LGBTQIA+ community has been sharing stories for centuries, creating their own histories, disrupting and reinventing conventional ideas about narrative, family, love and community. Curated from the hugely popular Queerstories storytelling event this important collection features stories from Benjamin Law, Jen Cloher, Nayuka Gorrie, Peter Polites, Candy Royalle, Rebecca Shaw, Simon 'Pauline Pantsdown' Hunt, Steven Lindsay Ross, Amy Coopes, Paul van Reyk, Mama Alto, Liz Duck-Chong, Maxine Kauter, David Cunningham, Peter Taggart, Ben McLeay, Jax Jacki Brown, Ginger Valentine, Candy Bowers, Simon Copland, Kelly Azizi, Nic Holas, Quinn Eades, Vicki Melson, Tim Bishop and Maeve Marsden.

The Success Experiment

'A desperately needed, delightfully digestible conversation on self-betterment that'll have you in tears and in stitches all at once.' Sarah Davidson 'This fast-paced how-to packs a millennial sized punch and will make you think differently about the way you live and work.' Emma Isaacs How would our lives change if we set our goals based on what would actually fulfil us, instead of what feels easy or achievable? Lillian Ahenkan's hypothesis: anyone can create a unique formula for their own personal success. The one-size-fits-all approach to 'your best life' is outdated – you can do better. You don't have to be exceptional (or even the exception) to be successful. You just need to learn the...

Instructional Photography

The acclaimed author of My Birth asks: can photographs help us live? A timely and explosive book by acclaimed artist and writer Carmen Winant, Instructional Photography offers an investigation of a genre of photographs Winant calls "instructional." It asks: can photographs teach, in and of themselves? Alternating between found images and shorter, text-based observations, Winant delves into this category of images through her own collection, understanding them as something beyond, or at least in between, documentary and fine art. Included in the volume are pictures of dog-training techniques, home gynecological exams and sitting Shiva, among many others. The book builds on a presentation that Winant delivered at the MoMA Contemporary Photo Forum in September 2020. Carmen Winant (born 1983) is an artist and writer based in Columbus, Ohio, where she is the Roy Lichtenstein Endowed Chair of Studio Art at Ohio State University. Her recent artist's books, My Birth and Notes on Fundamental Joy, were published by SPBH Editions, ITI Press and Printed Matter.
