This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 21st International Conference on Software Engineering and Formal Methods, SEFM 2023, held in Eindhoven, The Netherlands, during November 6-10, 2023. The 18 regular papers presented in this book, together with 1 invited paper and 1 tool paper, were carefully reviewed and selected from 41 submissions. The SEFM conference series aims to bring together researchers and practitioners from academia, industry and government, to advance the state of the art in formal methods, to facilitate their uptake in the software industry, and to encourage their integration within practical software engineering methods and tools.

Due to the Corona pandemic this event was held virtually.

Formal Methods for Industrial Critical Systems
This book constitutes the proceedings of the 24th International Conference on Formal Methods for Industrial Critical Systems, FMICS 2019, held in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, in August 2019. The 9 regular papers presented in this volume were carefully reviewed and selected from 15 submissions. The conference also featured invited talks by Jaco van de Pol (Aarhus University, and Twente University), jointly with CONCUR, and Holger Hermanns (Universität des Saarlandes) and a special session on (commercial) formal methods in industry. The aim of the FMICS conference series is to provide a forum for researchers who are interested in the development and application of formal methods in industry. Formal Methods for Components and Objects
Formal methods have been applied successfully to the verification of medium-sized programs in protocol and hardware design. However, their application to more complex systems, resulting from the object-oriented and the more recent component-based software engineering paradigms, requires further development of specification and verification techniques supporting the concepts of reusability and modifiability. This book presents revised tutorial lectures given by invited speakers at the Second International Symposium on Formal Methods for Components and Objects, FMCO 2003, held in Leiden, The Netherlands, in November 2003. The 17 revised lectures by leading researchers present a comprehensive account of the potential of formal methods applied to large and complex software systems such as component-based systems and object systems.
