Arguing that community courts may therefore be seen as the form of an otherwise neglected local knowledge, the book maintains their overlooked importance in improving widespread access to criminal justice. quase injusto celebrarmos a fora feminina em situaes como as das personagens Zola e Mvelo, em que a nica opo dada s mulheres serem fortes: nos guetos do apartheid no h outra escolha seno resistir. Precisamos olhar mais fundo, para alm da sobrevivncia, e ver o que estas mulheres foram capazes de preservar da sua identidade individual, o que puderam guardar intocado mesmo diante da degradao a que foram submetidas. Se acompanhamos a histria de Zola, temos um testemunho vivo de integridade e autonomia. Numa poca em que o feminismo mal tinha palavras s quais se agarrar, Zola mantm-se slida e determinada a seguir seus prprios princpios. E, se olharmos com ateno, encontraremos em Mvelo a infncia que, roubada to precocemente, se fez durar um pouco mais ao subsistir na inocncia de uma menina que se alimenta de esperana.
