This volume presents an elaborated version of lecture notes for two advanced courses: (Re)Emerging methods in Commutative Algebra and Representation Theory and Building Bridges Between Algebra and Topology, held at the CRM in the spring of 2015. Homological algebra is a rich and ubiquitous area; it is both an active field of research and a widespread toolbox for many mathematicians. Together, these notes introduce recent applications and interactions of homological methods in commutative algebra, representation theory and topology, narrowing the gap between specialists from different areas wishing to acquaint themselves with a rapidly growing field. The covered topics range from a fresh introduction to the growing area of support theory for triangulated categories to the striking consequences of the formulation in the homotopy theory of classical concepts in commutative algebra. Moreover, they also include a higher categories view of Hall algebras and an introduction to the use of idempotent functors in algebra and topology.
This monograph initiates a theory of new categorical structures that generalize the simplicial Segal property to higher dimensions. The authors introduce the notion of a d-Segal space, which is a simplicial space satisfying locality conditions related to triangulations of d-dimensional cyclic polytopes. Focus here is on the 2-dimensional case. Many important constructions are shown to exhibit the 2-Segal property, including Waldhausen’s S-construction, Hecke-Waldhausen constructions, and configuration spaces of flags. This volume contains the proceedings of the conference on Manifolds, -Theory, and Related Topics, held from June 23–27, 2014, in Dubrovnik, Croatia. The articles contained in this volume are a collection of research papers featuring recent advances in homotopy theory, -theory, and their applications to manifolds. Topics covered include homotopy and manifold calculus, structured spectra, and their applications to group theory and the geometry of manifolds. This volume is a tribute to the influence of Tom Goodwillie in these fields.
This volume contains the proceedings of the Workshop and 18th International Conference on Representations of Algebras (ICRA 2018) held from August 8–17, 2018, in Prague, Czech Republic. It presents several themes of contemporary representation theory together with some new tools, such as stable ∞ ∞-categories, stable derivators, and contramodules. In the first part, expanded lecture notes of four courses delivered at the workshop are presented, covering the representation theory of finite sets with correspondences, geometric theory of quiver Grassmannians, recent applications of contramodules to tilting theory, as well as symmetries in the representation theory over an abstract stable homotopy theory. The second part consists of six more-advanced papers based on plenary talks of the conference, presenting selected topics from contemporary representation theory: recollements and purity, maximal green sequences, cohomological Hall algebras, Hochschild cohomology of associative algebras, cohomology of local selfinjective algebras, and the higher Auslander–Reiten theory studied via homotopy theory.
This volume contains the proceedings of the International Conference on Vertex Operator Algebras, Number Theory, and Related Topics, held from June 11–15, 2018, at California State University, Sacramento, California. The mathematics of vertex operator algebras, vector-valued modular forms and finite group theory continues to provide a rich and vibrant landscape in mathematics and physics. The resurgence of moonshine related to the Mathieu group and other groups, the increasing role of algebraic geometry and the development of irrational vertex operator algebras are just a few of the exciting and active areas at present. This volume contains selected expository lectures delivered at the 2018 Maurice Auslander Distinguished Lectures and International Conference, held April 25–30, 2018, at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute, Woods Hole, MA. Reflecting recent developments in modern representation theory of algebras, the selected topics include an introduction to a new class of quiver algebras on surfaces, called “geodesic ghor algebras”, a detailed presentation of Feynman categories from a representation-theoretic viewpoint, connections between representations of quivers and the structure theory of Coxeter groups, powerful new applications of approximable triangulated categories, new results on the heart of a t t-structure, and an introduction to methods of constructive category theory.

Since 1991, the group of ring theorists from China and Japan, joined by Korea from 1995 onwards, took turns to hold the quadrennial international conferences (sometimes also referred to as symposiums). As the proceedings of the eighth conference held in Nagoya, Japan in 2019, this volume consists of a collection of articles by invited speakers (survey) and general speakers (survey and original), all of which were refereed by world experts.The survey articles show the trends of current research and offer clear, thorough explanations that are ideal for researchers also in other specialized areas of ring theory. This book is a lightly edited version of the unpublished manuscript Maximal Cohen–Macaulay modules and Tate cohomology over Gorenstein rings by Ragnar-Olaf Buchweitz. The central objects of study are maximal Cohen–Macaulay modules over (not necessarily commutative) Gorenstein rings. The main result is that the stable category of maximal Cohen–Macaulay modules over a Gorenstein ring is equivalent to the stable derived category and also to the homotopy category of acyclic complexes of projective modules. This assimilates and significantly extends earlier work of Eisenbud on hypersurface singularities. There is also an extensive discussion of duality phenomena in stable derived categories, extending Tate duality on cohomology of finite groups. Another noteworthy aspect is an extension of the classical BGG correspondence to super-algebras. There are numerous examples that illustrate these ideas. The text includes a survey of developments subsequent to, and connected with, Buchweitz's manuscript.
