Struggle and Survival under Authoritarianism in Turkey
After the Justice and Development Party (AKP) came to power in Turkey in 2002, the AKP grew into an authoritarian government as it politically and culturally oppressed citizens and institutions. In Struggle and Survival under Authoritarianism in Turkey: Theatre under Threat, Burcu Yasemin Şeybenargues thattheatre was deliberately targeted because theatre institutions and companies embodied the cultural program of the statist and Kemalist cultural policy that has continually excluded Muslims and various religious and ethnic minorities. Although the AKP claimed to be replacing the top-down, discriminatory, and secular statist and Kemalist theatre system with a facilitative and inclusive one, the AKP gradually adapted a more authoritarian system, as evidenced by their efforts to close and defund theatres, ban plays, and force theatre artists to exile. Despite the AKP’s increasing oppression, Şeybenstudies contemporary Turkish theatre to establish that a few theatre institutions, companies, and artists have managed to survive and develop democratic cultural policies and strategies that will outlive the AKP government.

From Enemies to Allies
British–Turkish relations were transformed in the first half of the 20th century, from a state of belligerence during the First World War, through a period of heated confrontation over the fate of Mosul and trade and business access to the new Republic of Turkey, to rapprochement and financial cooperation in the 1930s, and finally a formal military alliance under the auspices of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation. The edited collection provides a selection of important chapters by senior and early-career scholars from Britain, Turkey, and the wider world. The chapters use new sources to address issues as diverse as the Turkey–Iraq frontier, colonial governance in Cyprus, the legal rights of foreigners in Istanbul, commercial relations through the era of the Great Depression, contested neutrality in the Second World War, and the search for new alliances in the Cold War. Knowledge of this tumultuous transition and its impact on public memory is key to understanding points of tension and cohesion in present-day UK-Turkey relations. Dünyada ve Türkiye’de Savunma ve Güvenlik Ekonomisi
Son dönemde savunma ekonomisi, ekonomi biliminin bir alt dalı olarak devletlerin veya askerî iş birliği örgütlerinin ulusal, bölgesel ve küresel ölçekteki askerî faaliyetleri ile savunma sanayisi işletmelerinin ticari ve sınai faaliyetlerini, kamu ekonomisi ve ekonominin geneli üzerinde yarattığı etkiler açısından inceleyen yeni bir disiplin olarak dikkat çekmektedir. Ülkemizde de bu kapsamda yapılan bilimsel araştırma ve yayınlarda son yıllarda kayda değer bir artış yaşanmasına karşın yayımlanan kitap sayısı oldukça sınırlıdır. Bu kitap, esas itibarıyla Türkçe literatürdeki bu eksikliğin giderilmesine katkı sağlamayı amaçlamaktadır.
