Politicians are nothing more than thieves and crooks, as everyone surely knows. Nowhere is this statement truer than in Harael. It's a city where citizens are taxed by the thieves who rule it, where a Lord's reputation is everything, and where stealing valuables in the dead of night is more about political intrigue than monetary gain.So when Lord Vincent Tucat stumbles upon a plot to steal from him, the idea of embarrassingly turning the tables on his unknown enemy proves too tempting to resist.Except that some things aren't quite adding up. Why did so many other people know about young Lord Teuring's attempted burglary before it even happened? Is Vincent being used as a tool to punish and humiliate young Teuring? What is the penniless young Lord doing with two priceless antique blades, when all evidence suggests he needs to be shown which end of a sword is the dangerous one?Vincent's reputation, and his life, may depend on his ability to find answers to these questions.
In this coming-of-age play, two weird strangers, Evalina Belle and Thomas Beau, enter the Wellington household during a frightful February blizzard. They have homed in on the beams sent out by almost equally weird Trudy Wellington, a precocious tween convinced she has lived before and who has determined to rescue her stuffy parents from "zombie land". Meanwhile, 12 year old Trudy and the alter ego her mind has created out of necessity, an occasionally wise and rarely courageous Airedale named Mr. Venable, confront the two strangers, actually anthropomorphic cats, neither one very nice, but both decidedly interesting, much to Trudy's immediate deight and ultimate chagrin and Venable's alarm. A strange moment arrives after violent conflict when Trudy must choose between two remarkably different worlds, one as old as the First Egyptian Dynasty and the other contemporary. This comic modern fable could be useful in sizing up that next stranger who knocks on your door or in teaching family members how to be better people, even if they are dedicated stick-in-the-muds. It is truly surprising how cats, given an opportunity, can force an issue.
Two cats, one in the city and one in the country, chase mice before going to sleep.
A chubby, clean cat raised in a home meets a skinny stray cat, and a dialogue ensues between them, each trying to prove that it lives a happier life than the other. Who will prevail in the end? This story is specifically designed for young children to enhance their awareness and perspective on life from a younger age. It is a short yet engaging tale that will captivate kids’ minds.
Everything was going along as planned for Lou Malloy. He had figured out a way to get the money he had hidden in a casino that he and Hilary had robbed, a year ago with Crushers help. However, like a house of cards, one thing and then another started to happen along the way. First there was the attempt on his life by a sergeant in the Timucua Tribal Police Department and then Malloys old nemesis, Detective Sal Ramiro, trying to arrest him for crimes that there was no evidence that Malloy did them in the first place. In the meantime, Hilary has decided she wants a pet she could call her own and told Malloy that she wanted a cat. Malloy hated cats, but agrees to her request because he thinks t...

I have been engineer for Captain Nichols, when he was in command of another ship. He is a real Captain. But on this remarkable voyage, he was the storyteller; and he most certainly told it well. - Rex Lukinich Marine Engineer I have worked the often stormy waters of the Pacific Coast, and recognize a storyteller with both accuracy and drama. One rides every wave, hears every sound, feels every heartbeat of this bruising voyage. - Capt. Norval Evans Master, Fishing Vessel 'Quasar
