New America Awakenings

After a polarizing election, America breaks into a civil war, followed by a failed foreign invasion. Winning is not the end! New America divides into projects based on race and religion. Citizens who protest or break the laws are labeled an "enemy of peace." An enemy of peace quickly loses their head to the guillotine. Colt Jenkins resides in the New Bethlehem Project, where New American youth must navigate between Country, God, Survival, Love, Family, and Friends. Surviving daily attacks from Broken Mecca is not the only challenge. Katherine Shay, New Bethlehems keeper of the law, terrorizes citizens using the red phone, turning them into the government as enemies of peace. In a world with intermittent electricity, the President makes decrees from the television. The government controls the news and all information. The rising tension in the country and the Project puts Colt in Katherine's and the government's crosshairs. After being publicly humiliated by Katherine, Colt discovers the government is not what it appears. Colt will have to decide what kind of man he will be and what he will choose to leave behind in his race to save his family and his love.

A rare glimpse not only into the life of a professional wrestler, but the life of a gay man in a straight world, this tragic memoir is told in Chris Kanyon’s own words, with the help of journalist Ryan Clark. One of the most popular wrestlers of the late 1990s, Kanyon kept his personal life private from his fans until finally revealing his biggest secret in 2004: he was gay. Going through the various roles that Kanyon played, both in the ring and out of it, as well as his battle with manic depression, this book explores the factors that led to his suicide in 2010. In his voice and the way he wanted it told, these are Kanyon’s last words about his experience rising through the ranks to the top of the professional wrestling world while keeping his sexuality hidden.

Republic Pictures Corporation, began as a motion picture laboratory in 1915. By 1935, Republic had become a studio and released its first movie, Westward Ho! starring a young John Wayne, who would stay with Republic for the next 17 years. Republic would go on to produce highly successful Westerns starring singing cowboys Gene Autry and Roy Rogers as well as serial adventure series. The studio cranked out so many exciting (not to mention money-making) serials that it became known as "The Thrill Factory." Occasionally, Republic would produce and distribute "A" features, such as Macbeth and The Quiet Man, but it was the "B" Westerns and adventure serials that they knew best how to produce and market. Until its demise in 1959, Republic fed hungry moviegoers with a steady diet of "B" Westerns, serials, dramas, series pictures and musicals. The Republic Pictures Checklist provides a full listing of Republic releases, with plot synopses, release dates, alternate titles, chapter titles and awards. All of Republic's output, including documentaries and training films, is included.
