Integral Representation Theory

This monograph presents the state of the art of convexity, with an emphasis to integral representation. The exposition is focused on Choquet's theory of function spaces with a link to compact convex sets. An important feature of the book is an interplay between various mathematical subjects, such as functional analysis, measure theory, descriptive set theory, Banach spaces theory and potential theory. A substantial part of the material is of fairly recent origin and many results appear in the book form for the first time. The text is self-contained and covers a wide range of applications. From the contents: Geometry of convex sets Choquet theory of function spaces Affine functions on compact convex sets Perfect classes of functions and representation of affine functions Simplicial function spaces Choquet's theory of function cones Topologies on boundaries Several results on function spaces and compact convex sets Continuous and measurable selectors Construction of function spaces Function spaces in potential theory and Dirichlet problem Applications

You Will Never Know

In a small, suburban town, the murder of a local high school student rocks one woman’s family to its core—and threatens to expose her deepest, darkest secrets in the process. After a lifetime of hardship, Jessica Thornton finally has the life she’s dreamed of: a new marriage to a realtor with burgeoning success; a daughter whose athleticism has won her a scholarship to college; and a freshly-secured grant from her bank to finally complete her own higher education. Her life today is a complete reversal from the not-too-distant past, when the death of her first husband left her penniless and desperate to provide for her then-newborn child. But after the murder of her children’s high sc...

Ruin Probabilities

The book is a comprehensive treatment of classical and modern ruin probability theory. Some of the topics are Lundberg's inequality, the Cramér-Lundberg approximation, exact solutions, other approximations (eg. for heavy-tailed claim size distributions), finite horizon ruin probabilities, extensions of the classical compound Poisson model to allow for reserve-dependent premiums, Markov-modulation or periodicity. Special features of the book are the emphasis on change of measure techniques, phase-type distributions as a computational vehicle and the connection to other applied probability areas like queueing theory.

Get to Know Me: Anxiety

The ‘Get to Know Me’ resources aim to support children, along with those around them, who may have additional/special educational needs. They are designed to empower the professionals and adults who support those with identified needs, and encourage empathy and understanding. Developed by child psychologist Louise Lightfoot, the Guidebook, Picture book and Draw-along book in this three-part set will help key adults support children with anxiety. Practical guidance, tools and strategies are supported by a narrative picture book and a draw-along version, which explore the thoughts, feelings and sensations experienced by many children with anxiety.
