'Wanneer er gevochten moet worden, moet er maar gevochten worden. Je kunt jezelf niet ontrouw worden. Je kunt jezelf ook niets wijsmaken. We stonden ervoor. We hebben gedaan wat we moesten doen, wat we konden doen. Niet meer en niet minder.' Janny Brandes-Brilleslijper Tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog zijn de twee joodse zussen Janny en Lien Brilleslijper actief in het verzet in Amsterdam en Den Haag. De strijd
De gouden eeuw van de arbeider begon eind negentiende eeuw, de tijd van industrialisatie en sociale revolutie en van grote veranderingen en nieuwe bewegingen, vol strijd en onzekerheid. De arbeiders maakten zich los van traditionele leefpatronen en drukten een eigen stempel op de maatschappij.
