The moral theology of Hans G. Ulrich is presented here in English for the first time. These collected essays represent the culmination of a lifetime of reflection on Christian living from this German theologian in conversation with Luther, Bonhoeffer, and contemporary philosophers and theologians. Ulrich's ethics affirm the lively presence of the living work of God in orienting the daily life of Christians. This presence enables members of the Church to live as creatures trusting in God's promises, bearing witness in political and economic spheres, and trusting in life as a gift in response to bioethical issues. Ulrich's fresh take on living out of the promise of God yields further guidance on issues in international relations, economics, parenting, disability, and more.
The volume contributes to historical pragmatics an important chapter on what has so far not been paid adequate attention to, i.e. historical metapragmatics. More particularly, the collected papers apply a meta-communicative approach to historical texts by focusing on lexis that either directly or metaphorically identifies or characterizes entire forms of communication or single acts and act sequences or minor units. Within the context of their use, such lexical expressions, in fact, provide a key for disclosing historical forms of communication; taken out of context, they build the meta-communicative lexicon. The articles follow three principal distinctions in that they investigate the meta-communicative profile of genres, meta-communicative lexical sets and meta-communicative ethics and ideologies. They cover a broad spectrum of text types that span the entire history of the English language from Anglo-Saxon chronicles to computer-mediated communication.
This is a provocative and intelligent study of how high technology entrepreneurial developments have affected management education in the wider business context. Responding to the growth of new technology businesses, American business schools fostered entrepreneurship studies. Not wishing to be left behind entrepreneurially in the Information Age, France and Germany followed with their own innovative education programmes. And The Czech Republic, like other emerging economies, has been caught up belatedly in this education ferment. Original, and containing new research data, the book will appeal to academics, students and practitioners.
Fluorine in Life Sciences: Pharmaceuticals, Medicinal Diagnostics and Agrochemicals, volume four in Alain Tressaud's Progress in Fluorine Science series, presents a critical, multidisciplinary overview of the contributions of fluorinated products to solve important global issues in various life science fields, particularly in medicinal chemistry, molecular imaging techniques and agriculture. Edited by recognized experts, this book provides unique coverage of the wide-ranging uses and implications of fluorine and fluorinated compounds. Topics include medicinal monitoring and diagnosis, 19F MRI in medicine and in vivo cell tracking, 18F-labeled radiopharmaceuticals, brain imaging and neurology...
