Following nearly three decades of conflict and a series of failed ceasefire agreements, on 15 August 2005, the separatist Free Aceh Movement (GAM) and the Government of Indonesia reached an historic peace agreement to end the fighting and to give Aceh a high degree of genuine autonomy. Fokus penelitian ini tentang bagaimana upaya memahami gerakan dan perkembangan jaringan terorisme di Indonesia khususnya jaringan JAT—mulai dari pendirian JAT pada Juli 2008 hingga pengangkapan anggota JAT pada Mei 2010. Studi ini meneliti tentang posisi JAT dalam peta gerakan radikal dan perannya dalam perkembangan jaringan terorisme di Indonesia. Penelitian ini menjadi penting mengingat banyaknya tindak pidana terorisme di Indonesia. Hasil penelitian ini sebelumnya sudah pernah diterbitkan dan diedarkan secara internal dan terbatas pada Juli 2010 dengan judul “Peran Aktivis JAT dalam Kegiatan Terorisme: Studi Kasus JAT & Jaringan Aceh-Pamulang.” pada terbitan kali ini, beberapa data telah diperbarui, agar tetap relevan pada saat dicetak ulang.
