Two scripts were created in 2017 from the same source materials: preserved song lyrics from a performance created in 1943 in the Terezin Ghetto called Prince Bettliegend (the Bedridden Prince), the popular 1930s jazz melodies to which those lyrics were set, and fragments of testimony by survivors who performed in or witnessed that production. The development processes took place under the auspices of the £1.8 million AHRC-funded project Performing the Jewish Archive. PtJA co-investigator Lisa Peschel has spent the past two decades researching theatrical performance in Terezin, and the project’s planned performance festivals in Australia and South African in the summer of 2017 afforded a u...
Bioelectromagnetism has been gradually developing and expanding into a variety of fields in engineering, biomedical engineering, life science, medicine and biology. Bioelectromagnetism: History, Foundations and Applications provides an overview of the field and its developments; from its inception and growth through the twenty-first century, to the latest advances in electro- and magnetobiology and hazard evaluations of electromagnetic fields. It is organized into three sections, each focusing on specific regions of bioelectromagnetism. It begins with the foundations of the field and its history, with a chronological treatment of the major subjects in bioelectromagnetism. The relationship be...
Since the inelastic scattering of light was predicted nearly 100 years ago, Raman spectroscopy has become a mainstay of characterization techniques, with applications in a vast array of fields from chemistry to materials science and nanotechnology, from forensics to geology and art. More recently, it has found usage in the life sciences, and this book hereby outlines the state-of-the-art advances in applications of Raman spectroscopy to human health and biomedicine. It covers a wide range of human health science including medicine (especially cancer), physiology, biological molecules, pharmaceutical science, cells, viruses, microorganisms, and food science. Another highlight is that it describes recent progress on various Raman techniques such as surface-enhanced Raman scattering, tip-enhanced Raman scattering, non-linear Raman spectroscopy, Raman microscopy, and Raman imaging. Novel spectral analysis methods such as chemometrics are also prominently discussed.
Property has unique characteristics, both as an investment and as an operational holding. A thorough understanding of this dual role is needed by professionals responsible for maximising a property's full potential. Property Asset Management emphasizes the need for a strategic plan in property management as well as for efficient day-to-day practice.

This clinical reference for practitioners offers a new and comprehensive look at chronic obstructive lung disease. Global in scale and importance, it is an important cause of morbidity and mortality. Bringing together a roster of internationally renowned contributors from the front lines of pulmonary medicine and research, it is aimed at practitioners in pulmonary medicine, pathology, thoracic radiology and epidemiology. Its focus is on the pathobiology of chronic obstructive pathology disease and emphysema and its exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and on treatment options. This reference works to 'connect the dots' by collating and centralizing the various data on the subject.
