Dynamics and Control of Advanced Structures and Machines
This book presents selected contributions to the 4th International Workshop on Advanced Dynamics and Model Based Control of Structures and Machines. The workshop, which was held in Linz, Austria in September 2019, continued a series of international workshops — the Japan-Austria Joint Workshop on Mechanics and Model Based Control of Smart Materials and Structures, the Russia-Austria Joint Workshop on Advanced Dynamics and Model Based Control of Structures and Machines, and the first three editions of the International Workshop on Advanced Dynamics and Model Based Control of Structures and Machines. Contributions to Advanced Dynamics and Continuum Mechanics
The book celebrates the 65th birthday of Prof. Alexander K. Belyaev—a well-known expert in the field of Dynamics of Mechanical Systems. In addition to reflecting Prof. Belyaev’s contributions, the papers gathered here address a range of current problems in Dynamics and Continuum Mechanics. All contributions were prepared by his friends and colleagues, and chiefly focus on theory and applications.
Mechanics of Advanced Materials
The book presents interesting examples of recent developments in this area. Among the studied materials are bulk metallic glasses, metamaterials, special composites, piezoelectric smart structures, nonwovens, etc. The last decades have seen a large extension of types of materials employed in various applications. In many cases these materials demonstrate mechanical properties and performance that vary significantly from those of their traditional counterparts. Such uniqueness is sought – or even specially manufactured – to meet increased requirements on modern components and structures related to their specific use. As a result, mechanical behaviors of these materials under different loading and environmental conditions are outside the boundaries of traditional mechanics of materials, presupposing development of new characterization techniques, theoretical descriptions and numerical tools. The Workshop, held in Perm, Russia in September 2017 continued a series of international workshops, starting in with the Japan - Austria Joint Workshop on Mechanics and Model Based Control of Smart Materials and Structures, the Russia - Austria Joint Workshop on Advanced Dynamics and Model Based Control of Structures and Machines and the first two editions of the International Workshop on Advanced Dynamics and Model Based Control of Structures and Machines. The previous workshops took place in Linz, Austria in September 2008 and April 2010, in St. Petersburg, Russia in July 2012 and in Vienna, Austria in September 2015. The up-to-date contributions are authored by internationally re-known leading experts in dynamics and control representing a broad spectrum of topics in the field of Advanced Structures and Machines; both, with respect to theoretical aspects as well as applications to contemporary engineering problems.
Progress in Continuum Mechanics
This book gives an insight into the current developments in the field of continuum mechanics.
