Cullman County, Alabama Cemeteries, Volume 2
Cullman County was established in 1877 in large part from the west side of Blount and the east side of Winston counties. Today, the few old cemeteries which existed in those counties in the early days are found within the borders of Cullman. The cemetery listings in this four volume set were conducted by the author beginning in 2003 and ending in early 2006. An attempt was made to personally visit every cemetery in Cullman County and record information from each readable monument. Volume 2 of this series covers alphabetically cemeteries E through G, beginning with the East Battleground Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery and concluding with the Garden City Cemetery. It also includes the large Cullman City Cemetery. The volumes are filled with photos of many of the old cemetery sites and notes describing the company and unit of most of the old Civil War era veterans. This set of books is vital to any serious student of Cullman County genealogy and history.
Charmion Von Wiegand
A generously illustrated book on the American artist Charmion von Wiegand whose oeuvre is a vital contribution to the history of modern and abstract art. Charmion von Wiegand started painting figuratively in 1926, when she received encouragement from her friend and painter, Joseph Stella. After being hired as an American reporter based in Soviet Moscow from 1929 to 1932, von Wiegand established herself as a preeminent art critic who embraced progressive ideas. Commutative Algebra: 150 Years with Roger and Sylvia Wiegand
This volume contains the combined Proceedings of the Second International Meeting on Commutative Algebra and Related Areas (SIMCARA) held from July 22–26, 2019, at the Universidade de São Paulo, São Carlos, Brazil, and the AMS Special Session on Commutative Algebra, held from September 14–15, 2019, at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Wisconsin. These two meetings celebrated the combined 150th birthday of Roger and Sylvia Wiegand. The Wiegands have been a fixture in the commutative algebra community, as well as the wider mathematical community, for over 40 years. Articles in this volume cover various areas of factorization theory, homological algebra, ideal theory, representation theory, homological rigidity, maximal Cohen-Macaulay modules, and the behavior of prime spectra under completion, as well as some topics in related fields. The volume itself bears evidence that the area of commutative algebra is a vibrant one and highlights the influence of the Wiegands on generations of researchers.
