Awakening Through Moments of Choice

Awakening Through Moments of Choice

From the outside, Vince Kramer looked like he had it all. He was a commercial airline pilot, happily married, owned a beautiful home, and treated himself to the finer things in life. With so much in his life, why was he feeling like there should be more? Why wasn't he happier? Fulfilled? As his days unfolded, he came to the uncomfortable realization that searching for satisfaction from the outside world wasn't going to fill the void within himself. This transformative memoir details Vince's quest to gain a deeper understanding of the things that matter most in life: meaning, connection, and love. As he begins his search, Vince reunites with Mary, who opens worlds of spiritual growth and divi...

It's kind of like that awesome movie, Frozen, you know where there's those people stuck on a ski-lift while surrounded by wolves. But imagine if instead of wolves they were bears. And the bears spit wolves! Like they're fucking grenade launchers or something! It's awesome! And then there's these gigantic death worms that come out of the ground and kill and eat everyone. And they're huge ... big enough to eat breweries and shit. And it's all because of 2012! But, don't worry, there's a bunch of Mexican Ninjas with invisibility ponchos and throwing-sombreros that are going to save the day. They are so badass! And the main character Dave does some stuff, too. He can pull things out of the air, like burgers and Armani suits. He and his friend Worm-Head Girl, along with the Mexican Ninjas, and a veterinarian named LeAnn must try to save Phoenix from total annihilation. But they better hurry up because these gigantic death worms are going to utterly fucking destroy everything in like two seconds!

When Pride Still Mattered

By the time he died of cancer in 1970, after one season in Washington during which he transformed the Redskins into winners, Lombardi had become a mythic character who transcended sport, and his legend has only grown in the decades since. Many now turn to Lombardi in search of characteristics that they fear have been irretrievably lost, the oldfashioned virtues of discipline, obedience, loyalty, character, and teamwork. To others he symbolizes something less romantic: modern society's obsession with winning and superficial success. In When Pride Still Mattered, Maraniss renders Lombardi as flawed and driven yet ultimately misunderstood, a heroic figure who was more complex and authentic than the stereotypical images of him propounded by admirers and critics.

In this hilarious novel six heroes from six different epochs of earth's history (and an alien tossed in to add a little alienness) battle Space ISIS for control of a belovd spaceship (and the fate of every living creature everywhere!). There are a lot of lazers, A LOT of lazers, more lazers, I would hazard, than are any other book. Even the Bible. This book can be described as nothing short of a Deadly Lazer Explodathon! There's also a lot of sex. A LOT. Like, almost too much (if there is such a thing!). Certainly more than the Bible. Some of the sex even has lazers involved. And you haven't really had sex until you've had lazer sex. Like they say, once you go lazer sex, you never go back. It's so awesome. Once you read this book, you'll want to own your own lazers (and you'll want to have sex!). You'll want to travel through time with a mysterious doctor and battle robot Hitler too, just like our heroes. When they're not having sex. Which, as I have stated, is quite often. So, if you love lazers, Space ISIS, or robot Hitler, be sure to pick this book up. Not only pick it up, but read it also. But use a lamp, as you don't want to go blind.

In 1967, when Jerry Kramer was a thirty-one-year-old Green Bay Packers offensive lineman, in his tenth year with the team, he decided to keep a diary of the season. “Perhaps, by setting down my daily thoughts and observations,” he wrote, “I’ll be able to understand precisely what it is that draws me back to professional football.” Working with the renowned journalist Dick Schaap, Kramer recorded his day-to-day experiences as a player with perception, honesty, humor, and startling sensitivity. Little did Kramer know that the 1967 season would be one of the most remarkable in the history of pro football, culminating with the legendary championship game against Dallas now known as the...

Imaginative Resistance, Queer Fiction and the Law develops a novel account of how heteronormative sociolegal orders undermine the well-being of same-sex attracted people, even when these normative orders may fall short of coercively interfering with their choices. Queer well-being is generally studied from psychological perspectives, through the concept of ‘minority stress.’ Taking four texts of mid-century Anglo-American queer fiction as illustrative case studies, this book argues – in a philosophical rather than a psychological register – that heteronormativity also affects queer well-being in more intangible ways. The central claim is that heteronormativity shackles the imaginatio...

Run to Daylight!

In the golden years of professional football, one team and one coach reigned supreme: the 1960s Green Bay Packers, and the fiery Vince Lombardi. Run to Daylight! is Lombardi’s own diary of a week at the helm of that magnificent club. Together with legendary sports-journalist, W.C. Heinz, Lombardi takes us from the first review of game films on Monday right through the final gun on Sunday afternoon. We see the planning, the plotting, the practice and the pain as forty-plus men come together to form that precision unit that makes for winning football. Lombardi gives us his views on life, the game, coaching, success, family, and the famed “Lombardi Sweep.” Now, in this anniversary edition, with a special foreword by David Maraniss, we are once again reminded of the passion and power behind America's greatest game. Written in W.C. Heinz’s inimitable style, Run to Daylight! is part diary, part philosophy text, part coaches manual. Here, is professional football at its best.
