My Grumpy Cop

The last thing I expected while eating a bowl of cereal was to come face to face with a corpse in the middle of the kitchen, and become the only witness to a murder. The killer? Bruno Santoni, the most famous gangster in the South of France. Just my luck. Now I have to accept protection from Livio—a stubborn detective with a stick up his butt. He’s been after Santoni for years. Has an obsession that rivals my obsession for sweets. We couldn’t be more different, and as a result, we’re at each other’s throats. But he’s pretty hot…so that makes it better. A lot better. And based on his discreet stares, I think he feels the same way about me. My Grumpy Cop is an Enemies-to-lovers romantic comedy with a swoon-worthy hero and a sassy heroine!

My Cranky Lawyer

The last thing I expected to be doing on New Year's Eve was getting arrested for setting my ex's house on fire. It was an accident, I swear! But now I have to accept Vincenzo Rossi's help if I want to get out of jail. As much as I despise this man, I despise sitting in a jail cell even more. Turns out, he didn't have the best start to the year either. Apparently, he has a rival at the office that's about to take his business right from underneath him. Vincenzo proposes a deal: pretend to be his fiancée to help him secure a promotion at his law firm, and he will take care of my legal issues. Despite my hatred, I have to admit it's a good plan, but will we be able to work together without ripping each other's throats out? This enemies-to-lovers romantic comedy explores deception, growth, and the power of love to heal and transform even the most cynical of hearts. Fans of witty banter, emotional connections, and happily-ever-afters will devour this entertaining read.

This book assembles recent research on memory and learning in plants. Organisms that share a capability to store information about experiences in the past have an actively generated background resource on which they can compare and evaluate coming experiences in order to react faster or even better. This is an essential tool for all adaptation purposes. Such memory/learning skills can be found from bacteria up to fungi, animals and plants, although until recently it had been mentioned only as capabilities of higher animals. With the rise of epigenetics the context dependent marking of experiences on the genetic level is an essential perspective to understand memory and learning in organisms....

The perception that the early sixteenth century saw a culmination of the Renaissance classical revival - only to degrade into mannerism shortly after Raphael's death in 1520 - has been extremely tenacious; but many scholars agree that this tidy narrative is deeply problematic. Exploring how we can reconceptualize the High Renaissance in a way that reflects how we research and teach today, this volume complicates and deepens our understanding of artistic change. Focusing on Rome, the paradigmatic centre of the High Renaissance narrative, each essay presents a case study of a particular aspect of the culture of the city in the early sixteenth century, including new analyses of Raphael's stanze, Michelangelo's Sistine Ceiling and the architectural designs of Bramante. The contributors question notions of periodization, reconsider the Renaissance relationship with classical antiquity, and ultimately reconfigure our understanding of 'high Renaissance style'.

Myeloid Leukemia

A panel of internationally recognized research scientists and clinical investigators brings together a diverse collection of readily reproducible methods for identifying and quantifying a large number of specific genetic abnormalities associated with the broad spectrum of myeloid malignancies. Highlights include techniques for the detection of BCR-ABL mutations and resistance to imatinib mesylate, detection of the FIP1L1-PDGFRA fusion in idiopathic hypereosinophilic syndrome and chronic eosinophilic leukemia, classification of AML by DNA-oligonucleotide microarrays, and detection of the V617F JAK2 mutation in myeloproliferative disorders. In addition to gene rearrangments, other prognostically relevant molecular lesions such as FLT3 mutations and WT-1 overexpression are covered.
