Traces d'enfance
Le recueil de récits d'enfance tire son intérêt et son originalité de son caractère collectif en rupture avec la conception classique du récit d’enfance comme entreprise individuelle et autonome. L'impact de la forme brève imposée par le recueil sur le récit d'enfance pose avec acuité la question du renouvellement (ou non) des modalités d'écriture de l'enfance: sélection des souvenirs, reconduite ou subversion des motifs liés à l'enfance. Tirant profit des théories stipulant le dynamisme du recueil, cet ouvrage prône une lecture hypertextuelle de trois collectifs rassemblant des écrivains francophones d'horizons divers qui, à partir d'un fragment d'enfance, relatent leurs rapports complexes à la grande Histoire et à la petite histoire mais aussi au pays d'origine et au pays de l'exil, à la langue maternelle et à la langue d'écriture. Au-delà de la problématique postcoloniale, la poétique des textes transversale pratiquée cherche à tracer des liens transculturels entre des enfances issues de mondes très différents.
Sharing the Burden of Stories from the Tutsi Genocide
This book deals with literary representations of the genocide of the Tutsis in Rwanda. The focus is a transnational, polyphonic writing project entitled ‘Rwanda: écrire par devoir de mémoire’ (Rwanda: Writing by Duty of Memory), undertaken in 1998 by a group of nine African authors. This work emphasizes the Afropolitan cultural frame in which the texts were conceived and written. Instead of using Western and Eurocentric tropes, this volume looks at a so-called ‘minority trauma’: an African conflict situated in a collectivist society and written about by writers from African origin. This approach enables a more situated study, in which it becomes possible to draw out the local notions of ubuntu, oral testimonies, mourning traditions, healing and storytelling strategies, and the presence of the ‘invisible’. As these texts are written in French and to date not all of them have been translated into English, most academic research has been done in French. This book thus assists in connecting English-speaking readers not only to a set of texts written in French with significant literary and cultural value, but also to francophone trauma studies research.

Im afrikanischen Film übernehmen schwarze Schauspieler Rollen, die in Europa und den USA weißen Darstellern vorbehalten sind. Die Rollen der Weißen werden zu einem Imaginationsraum, der eine Inszenierung von Planspielen ermöglicht. Cassis Kilian zeigt: Die afrikanischen Regisseure nutzen die Rollen als Verhandlungsplattform, auf der sie den Umgang mit postkolonialen Gegebenheiten, etwa dem kolonialen Erbe, neokolonialen Strukturen oder der Hegemonie westlicher Medien erproben.

L'Essai postcolonial
Édouard Glissant, Nadine Gordimer, Abdelkebir Khatibi, Valentin-Yves Mudimbe, Wole Soyinka : ces cinq théoriciens postcoloniaux ont en commun d’avoir renouvelé le genre de l’essai et d’en avoir fait un outil d’expérimentation littéraire. Revenant à la poétique de l’« entreglose » qu’avait développée Montaigne, Florian Alix montre comment l’essai postcolonial entend dérouter les catégories avant tout littéraires, mais aussi identitaires, nationales, politiques. À la fois intellectuel et écrivain, l’essayiste entend faire de l’écriture de soi une forme critique à même de penser l’universel. L’essai postcolonial est un genre-carrefour, un genre de la transgression, qui traite de la ségrégation, du Tout-monde et de notre rapport au commun.
