Work and AI 2030

In ten years, we will take working with artificial intelligence (AI) more for granted than using cell phones today. 78 recognized experts from practice and research provide deep insights and outlooks regarding the influence of AI on everyday working life in 2030, explaining with practical tips how you can prepare for this development. The 41 concise articles cover a broad spectrum in the area examined in each case. Thanks to a standardized structure, they include a summary of the status quo, concrete examples, future expectations, an overview of challenges and possible solutions, and practical tips. The volume begins with societal and ethical issues before discussing legal considerations for employers and HR professionals, as well as the administration of justice. The other chapters examine the impact of AI on the world of work in 2030 in the sectors of business, industry, mobility and logistics, medicine and pharmaceuticals, and (further) education.

The Radicalization of Cicero

This book uses a previously overlooked Neo-Latin treatise, Cicero Illustratus, to provide insight into the status and function of the Ciceronian tradition at the beginning of the eighteenth century, and consequently to more broadly illuminate the fate of that tradition in the early Enlightenment. Cicero Illustratus itself is the first subject for inquiry, mined for what its deliberately erudite and colorfully polemical passages of scholarly stratagems reveal about Ciceronian scholarship and the motives for exploring it within the context of early Enlightenment thought. It also includes an analysis of the role played by the Ciceronian tradition in the broader political and radical movements that existed in the Enlightenment, with particular attention paid to Cicero’s unexpectedly prominent position in major political and philosophical Republican and Erastian works. The subject of this book together with the conclusions reached will provide scholars and students with crucial new material relating to the classical tradition, the history of scholarship, and the intellectual history of the early Enlightenment.

The declared goal of this book, an extended and revised translation of the German edition (2021), is to show how a unified model of the psyche and body can be developed via insights from psychoanalysis, neurology and computer technology. On the one hand, such a model allows for the testing of psychological and social theories on a scientific basis with the help of simulation experiments. On the other hand, the model developed according to the functional structures of the human brain and psyche provides the basis for artificial intelligence systems. These are systems with cognitive capabilities that can save human lives, save energy, ensure safety at airports, provide support in old-age care ...
