2 letters to his wife, 7 Dec. 1863, 25 July 1864. In the first Johnson tells of the wounded and suffering he has seen, and hastens to assure his wife that he is unharmed. In the letter of 25 July 1864 he tells his wife that the "strength of the rebellion is crushed" and that the Union will be victorious; orders from J.M. Palmer directing Johnson to assume command of the 14th Army Corps.
This book is a description of life on a family farm and small town in Indiana in the 1940s and 50s. A history and genealogy for my family, and a description of my life as a family physician in Idaho and California is included. Many photos of ancestors are included.
General description of the collection: The Clarence W. Johnson papers contain a Korean War Veterans Survey Questionnaire and a memoir. Johnson remembers writing to his father to send heavy winter gloves to Korea. Johnson volunteered to transfer from an artillery unit to the infantry. His memoir covers his entire Korean War service and earlier service in Japan. He mentions weapons, exercises, traveling, guard duty, food and fellow soldiers.
