Written by Himself, in His 76th Year, 1847 One evening during the winter of 1846-7, after hearing my grandfather, William Edwards, then of Brooklyn, relate some of his early recollections, I urged him to employ his mornings in writing out what he could remember of his active life, assuring him that it would interest his grand-children and those who came after them.
