La presente nota de clases aborda el estudio de algunos conceptos fundamentales del cálculo integral de una variable real. En ella se exponen las ideas básicas de la diferencial y la antiderivada de una función, la integral indefinida, ecuaciones diferenciales con variables separables y se examinan los métodos de integración más relevantes. Cada uno de estos temas se presenta de forma precisa y no demasiado formal. La obra presenta una buena cantidad de ejemplos resueltos que servirán de modelo para el desarrollo de otros ejercicios propuestos (todos con su respuesta); además, ofrece una sección de autoevaluación al final de cada capítulo, la cual ayudará al estudiante, por un lado, a valorar los progresos alcanzados durante el estudio y, por otro, a reforzar su incursión en el mundo del cálculo integral.

Current Topics in Neglected Tropical Diseases
Neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) is a diverse group of communicable diseases that prevail in tropical and subtropical conditions in 149 countries. NTDs affect more than one billion people and cost developing economies billions of dollars every year. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), NTDs mainly affect populations living in poverty, without adequate sanitation, and in close contact with infectious vectors, domestic animals, and livestock. Migration, as well as climate change and variability, are key factors in NTD prevalence. Therefore, NTDs deserve more study. Recently, viruses transmitted by vectors (arboviruses) that affect not only people living in the tropics, but also travelers and migrating populations, have been causing epidemics. Examples of these viruses include Dengue, Chikungunya, Zika, Mayaro, and encephalitis viruses. These viruses emerge and reemerge in multiple regions of the world, as occurred in the Americas recently (2013-2017) with Chikungunya and Zika. This book aims to update the significant epidemiological and clinical research of NTDs in many aspects with a multinational perspective.

Phytoplankton
Phytoplankton plays a key role in aquatic ecosystems where it is the major biomass producer. Phytoplankton is characterised by a high time-space variability which is determined by abiotic and biotic factors. In this book, the role of abiotic factors (light, temperature, nutrients, wind, hydrodynamics, CO2 and UV radiation) and biotic factors (bacteria, zooplankton, macrophytes and fish) is discussed. Anthropogenic pressure can alter those environmental factors, causing undesired changes in the composition and biomass of phytoplankton. This book emphasises the effects on water quality, but bottom sediment is also analysed. The effectiveness of management measures to restore impacted ecosystems is reviewed and ecological modelling is used as a prediction tool.
