This book includes a selection papers describing the latest advances and discoveries in the field of human-computer interactions, which were presented at the 6th International Conference on Man-Machine Interactions, ICMMI 2019, held in Cracow, Poland, in October 2019. Human-computer interaction is a multidisciplinary field concerned with the design of computer technology and, in particular, the interaction between humans (the users) and computers. Over recent decades, this field has expanded from its initial focus on individual and generic user behavior to the widest possible spectrum of human experiences and activities. The book features papers covering a variety of topics, which are divided into five sections: ‘human-computer interfaces,’ ‘artificial intelligence and knowledge discovery,’ ‘pattern recognition,’ ‘bio-data and bio-signal analysis,’ and ‘algorithms, optimization and signal processing.’ Presenting the latest research in the field, this book provides a valuable reference resource for academics, industry practitioners and students.
Polish Theatre after the Fall of Communism
In international theatre studies, there has been a dearth of studies on Polish contemporary theatre. This book investigates how Polish theatre has changed since 1989 and the fall of Communism. It introduces the most prominent Polish theatre directors, namely Krystian Lupa and his two extremely talented students Krzysztof Warlikowski and Jan Klata. All three of them represent three absolutely different types of aesthetics and ways of thinking about theatre: Krystian Lupa mostly concentrates on Austrian and Russian literature. Krzysztof Warlikowski’s theatre is based on stage versions of William Shakespeare or Ancient authors. Jan Klata focuses his attention on Polish history and current social problems. This book highlights the creativity of Polish contemporary theatre, and shows how different from most theatre traditions in other European countries it is.
Performance - Cinema - Sound
This volume makes visible the cooperation between the Visegrad Fund and Humboldt University of Berlin. With selections exploring the fields of performance, cinema, and sound, it incorporates ideas from performance theory, film and media studies, art history, philosophy, and literary theory. On the other hand it is the permeability of the media to each other—as well as to other expressive forms such as theatre and happenings, film and photography, voice and writing—that takes center stage. Fifteen essays delve into questions of performativity with concrete examples from Central and Eastern Europe: e.g. Czech, Hungarian, Russian, Slovak, and Soviet cinema; the Polish Academy of Movement, Tot Art, and Orange Alternative; the Hungarian performer Tamás Szentjóby and post-Fluxus phenomena; Polish "hobo poets" like Marcin Świetlicki; works of the French Jean Fautrier, the Czech Mikuláš Medek, and the Slovak Dominik Tatarka on sound and voice; Belarusian and Polish "sung poetry" as intermedial subversion of tradition, and the textual performance of Dezső Kosztolányi’s disappeared voice.
20 Ground-Breaking Directors of Eastern Europe
Directors have long been the main figures on Eastern European stages. Algorithms in Advanced Artificial Intelligence
The most common form of severe dementia, Alzheimer’s disease (AD), is a cumulative neurological disorder because of the degradation and death of nerve cells in the brain tissue, intelligence steadily declines and most of its activities are compromised in AD. Before diving into the level of AD diagnosis, it is essential to highlight the fundamental differences between conventional machine learning (ML) and deep learning (DL). This work covers a number of photo-preprocessing approaches that aid in learning because image processing is essential for the diagnosis of AD. The most crucial kind of neural network for computer vision used in medical image processing is called a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN). The proposed study will consider facial characteristics, including expressions and eye movements using the diffusion model, as part of CNN’s meticulous approach to Alzheimer’s diagnosis. Convolutional neural networks were used in an effort to sense Alzheimer’s disease in its early stages using a big collection of pictures of facial expressions.
Brainlesion: Glioma, Multiple Sclerosis, Stroke and Traumatic Brain Injuries
The two-volume set LNCS 11992 and 11993 constitutes the thoroughly refereed proceedings of the 5th International MICCAI Brainlesion Workshop, BrainLes 2019, the International Multimodal Brain Tumor Segmentation (BraTS) challenge, the Computational Precision Medicine: Radiology-Pathology Challenge on Brain Tumor Classification (CPM-RadPath) challenge, as well as the tutorial session on Tools Allowing Clinical Translation of Image Computing Algorithms (TACTICAL). These were held jointly at the Medical Image Computing for Computer Assisted Intervention Conference, MICCAI, in Shenzhen, China, in October 2019. The revised selected papers presented in these volumes were organized in the following topical sections: brain lesion image analysis (12 selected papers from 32 submissions); brain tumor image segmentation (57 selected papers from 102 submissions); combined MRI and pathology brain tumor classification (4 selected papers from 5 submissions); tools allowing clinical translation of image computing algorithms (2 selected papers from 3 submissions.)
