In the pains and hopes of his people, Raheb reveals an emerging Palestinian Christian theology.

This book offers the first comprehensive study of Byzantine influence on the art and iconography of East Central Europe. Petr Balcárek focuses on the Byzantine cultural and religious legacy in the Czech lands, thereby bringing to light rarely seen images and presenting fresh hypotheses based on newly-explored theological interpretations and historical evidence. Including a discussion of the Czech and Slovak historiography on Byzantine studies, the work analyses significant artistic and iconographical artefacts in light of the intricate historical and political relationships that shaped Byzantine presence in these territories, comparing them with similar objects from other areas of Byzantine influence in order to draw wide-reaching conclusions.
Is the language of mission clearly evident across the broad reaches of time? Or has the modern missionary enterprise distorted our view of the past? Michael Stroope investigates how the modern church has come to understand, speak of, and engage in the global expansion of Christianity, offering a hopeful way forward in this pressing conversation.

This work, a doctoral thesis accepted by the University of Marburg, Germany, offers an authoritative analysis of the prayers and fasts of the oriental orthodox churches. Fr. Biji, who is the vicar of the Malankara Syrian Orthodox Church in Vienna, Austria and a visiting faculty member at the Syrian Orthodox Seminary at Vettickal, India, goes beyond the age-old spiritual practises of his church based on the teachings of its canon giver Bar Ebroyo and delineates the formative influences as well as the present day significance of those teachings. The book is a pioneering attempt to develop a theology of prayers and fasts from the oriental perspective.
"The Encyclopedia of Christianity is the first of a five-volume English translation of the third revised edition of Evangelisches Kirchenlexikon. Its German articles have been tailored to suit an English readership, and articles of special interest to English readers have been added. The encyclopedia describes Christianity through its 2000-year history within a global context, taking into account other religions and philosophies. A special feature is the statistical information dispersed throughout the articles on the continents and over 170 countries. Social and cultural coverage is given to such issues as racism, genocide, and armaments, while historical content shows the development of biblical and apostolic traditions."--"Outstanding reference sources 2000", American Libraries, May 2000. The Luminous Way to the East explores the little-known story of an encounter of Christianity with Central and Eastern Asia that took place more than a thousand years ago. It provides a documented look at what was not only the first stage in the history of Christianity's dialogue with Asian cultural and religious traditions, but also one of the most extraordinary and fruitful moments in that history. The core of the book is a richly annotated English translation of the Chinese Christian documents produced in Tang China (618-907). It offers the reader an introduction to the extraordinary missionary diffusion of the Church of the East from the Middle to the Far East along the Silk Road.
