Remote sensing technology is a key technology and an important tool to help realize the sustainable development of marine resources and the environment. Remote sensing is playing an increasing role in global change research, resource investigation, environmental monitoring and prediction. In the process of maintaining the sustainable development of marine resources and the environment, remote sensing technology will not only greatly promote the development of information science and technology, space science and technology, environmental science and technology and earth science, but also further promote the intersection and integration of different disciplines. This book presents a compilation of recent scientific discoveries in the field of Earth sciences from Mesozoic rocks of the Junggar Basin, China. The Triassic and Jurassic strata of this basin are particularly important because they were deposited in a continental environment inside, or close to, the Arctic Circle. The successions of the Junggar Basin therefore provide a rare snapshot of a high-latitude seasonal continental ecosystem, at a time when dinosaurs roamed the Earth. The research papers within this volume cover a range of topics, spanning the fields of palaeontology, palaeogeography, sedimentology and geochemistry, and include studies from episodes of marked environmental perturbation, including the end-Triassic mass extinction (c. 201 Ma) and the Toarcian Oceanic Anoxic Event (c. 183 Ma). The scientific advances documented here contribute to the understanding of Mesozoic high-latitude continental environments, and are expected to lead to follow-up studies, facilitating further interdisciplinary collaborations in the future.

This book offers a critical assessment of governance ideas in the context of Chinese neoliberalism. It argues that the Chinese version of governance has emerged as an important discursive practice in the articulation of the neoliberal spirit of the national reform agenda. The book first examines the institutional and intellectual background of governance ideas, capturing the key features of neoliberalization in transitional China. The main body of investigation is an interpretive analysis of governance in terms of its normative principles and technical skills, which effectively package the mature neoliberal vision and reality so that it indicates the dominant ruling structure of Chinese neoliberalism. The subsequent analysis presents a genealogical review of governance discourse and traces its adaptation to local neoliberal experiments. The book concludes with reflections on possible ways of critical engagement with governance ideas and with the intellectual aspects of neoliberalism.
Groundwater is a valuable source of freshwater in coastal areas. The groundwater flux in coastal aquifers generally occurs in two processes: seawater intrusion (SWI) and submarine groundwater discharge (SGD). SWI, the subsurface movement of seawater into freshwater aquifers, is a natural phenomenon in coastal areas. As a result of SWI, the salinity of groundwater in the aquifer increases, thereby reducing the availability of freshwater in coastal areas. The total efflux (including fresh groundwater and circulating seawater) to the sea is commonly referred to as SGD. SGD is an important source of freshwater, nutrients, metals, and carbon to the ocean, thereby affecting coastal water quality and ecosystems. The study of the hydrological behaviors of these two processes in coastal aquifers is beneficial for the sustainable management of marine and groundwater resources in coastal areas.
