The Thirteen Principles of Faith (Vol. 1)

The Rambam writes the following at the end of his commentary on Maseches Brachos: "I value teachign you the fundamentals of Judaism and emunah more than any other topic." This famous teacher of the entire Torah is sharing with us that relating the fundamentals of our faith is his most precious lesson! In this sefer, we present you with many enlightening, inspirational and practical essays on the Rambam's Thirten Principles of Faith. By learning this sefer, you will, be'ezras Hashem, deepen you knowledge, connection, and commitment to emunah. In addition to fulfilling this most fundamental of mitzvos, this will fill your life with fulfillment and vitality. This is as it is written in Habakuk: "The tzaddik lives with his faith," which means that emunah is a source of life and vitality in This World and for all eternity.

This text addresses the need for a book specifically aimed at obstetric anesthesia and covers topics such as pulmonary, cardiac renal, hepatic, hematologic, neurologic, endocrine and other diseases. The real anesthetic challenge arises when patients present to Labor and Delivery with unusual or complicated medical problems and, in recent years, a few of the larger institutions have developed an Obstetric Anesthesiology Consultation Service to prepare for the management of these patients. While most pregnant women who present to Labor and Delivery require anesthetic intervention, they typically meet the anesthesiologist for the first time in labor. Since the majority of laboring women are healthy without significant comorbidities, this does not present much of a challenge to the anesthesiologist and the anesthetic management tends to be straight-forward with favorable outcomes. However, using this new model, the anesthesiologist has the opportunity to discuss the various treatment modalities and potentially suggest diagnostic testing to be performed prior to delivery, similar to the pre-operative testing that is done in other surgical environments.

Why Aren't Jewish Women Circumcised?

Why aren't Jewish women circumcised? This improbable question, first advanced by anti-Jewish Christian polemicists, is the point of departure for this wide-ranging exploration of gender and Jewishness in Jewish thought. With a lively command of a wide range of Jewish sources—from the Bible and the Talmud to the legal and philosophical writings of the Middle Ages to Enlightenment thinkers and modern scholars—Shaye J. D. Cohen considers the varied responses to this provocative question and in the process provides the fullest cultural history of Jewish circumcision available.
