Die Untersuchung von 17 politischen Parteien in Benin und Burkina Faso betritt mit dieser Fragestellung Neuland im von der vergleichenden Parteienforschung vernachlässigten frankophonen Afrika. Sie verbindet systematisch „afrikatypische“ Erklärungsansätze (z.B. Ethnizität) mit „klassischen“ Wahlerfolgskriterien (z.B. schlagkräftige Organisation).
