ntegrative Pharmacology can be used to determine the multi-pharmacological effects of traditional medicines such as traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), Kampo, Sa-sang, Ayurveda, etc.). Through qualitative and quantitative pharmacokinetic-pharmacodynamic (PK-PD) correlations among multi-constituents and multi-targets, integrating chemical profiling, ADME/PK processes, molecular network calculation and resulting experimental validation, the use of Integrative Pharmacology has become widespread. The data has provided a novel paradigm to evaluate the druggability of bioactive ingredients of herbs or formulae, to decipher the pharmacological mechanisms of drug action and to screen potentially new indications for approved drugs and previously unidentified adverse events. On this basis, Integrative Pharmacology may offer an effective way to test the potential scientific basis for traditional medicines and to assess what roles of traditional medicine can and cannot play in pharmaceuticals.
The book is about the revival of China in the 20th century and the first decade of the 21st century. It has eight parts: (1) The civil revolution in China, (2) The countryside bases, (3) The Long Match of the Red Army, (4) The Anti Japanese War, (5) Decisive civil battles before the establishment of the People’s Republic of China, (6) The Mao Era before the Great Cultural Revolution, (7) The Great Cultural Revolution, and (8) The Reform and opening up. Chemical sensors contain two basic functions: recognition and transduction, and provide real-time information about substances rather than physical quantities. Such devices are extensively utilized for various applications in diverse fields. The book focuses on the physical, chemical, optical, and electrical working mechanisms of different types of sensors integrated with various smart nanomaterials and composites. The mesmerizing properties of numerous materials and their fruitful applications for detecting numerous chemical parameters are discussed here. The book provides recent progress in the chemical sensors field and connects materials, physics, chemistry, and engineering, and therefore, is suitable for engineers, industrial, and academic researchers.
This book explores acupuncture's remarkable evolution in the United States over the last fifty years as it transitioned from an obscure practice to a pivotal modality in complementary medicine. These pages chronicle acupuncture’s transformative journey within the dominant culture of Western scientific medicine, highlighting key milestones from the use of acupuncture in pain management to the NIH-sponsored open-access digital compendium of acupuncture points and related information. Through narratives detailing educational advancements, legislative battles, practical applications, and scientific research, the reader gains a comprehensive view of how acupuncture has navigated controversies and debates to secure its place in modern healthcare. This book traces acupuncture’s expanding role in the healthcare system, reflects on its historical significance, and considers its future in global health. Insightful commentary provides acupuncture practitioners, skeptics, and aficionados with a useful overview of acupuncture’s past, its current achievements and its promise for the future.

"Written by some of the world's foremost experts, the articles in this book show how plasma science can be applied to environmental problems, including atmospheric sensing and modification, energy conservation, reduction of air pollution, and processing of ordinary and radioactive wastes. Atmospheric CFC's might be zapped with big lasers. Urban air pollution could be removed by large convection towers built in or near cities. And weapons-grade plutonium can be destroyed with specially designed particle accelerators. Some of the technologies described here are in use already, while others are in the prototype stage, or are speculative approaches deserving of further study." "Contents" Written...
