The Twenty-Four Histories (Chinese: 二十四史) are the Chinese official historical books covering a period from 3000 BC to the Ming dynasty in the 17th century. The Han dynasty official Sima Qian established many of the conventions of the genre. Starting with the Tang dynasty, each dynasty established an official office to write the history of its predecessor using official court records. As fixed and edited in the Qing dynasty, the whole set contains 3213 volumes and about 40 million words. It is considered one of the most important sources on Chinese history and culture. The title "Twenty-Four Histories" dates from 1775 which was the 40th year in the reign of the Qianlong Emperor. This ...

The Role of Probiotics, Postbiotics, and Microbial Metabolites in Preventing and Treating Chronic Diseases

Chronic conditions, such as cardiovascular diseases and diabetes, are now among the greatest threats to human health. As public concerns with complex causality and long development period, chronic diseases generally cannot be cured by medication or prevented by vaccines. Finding new strategies to prevent or treat chronic diseases has long been a challenge to science. Recently, a series of breakthrough studies in intestinal biology, especially in the fields of the gut microbiota, has made us pay close attention to the critical role of intestinal function in chronic disease treatment. Emerging evidence suggests that the gut microbiota could affect the occurrence, diagnosis, and treatment of hu...

Neutrosophic Optimization and its Application on Structural Designs

In the real world, uncertainty or vagueness is prevalent in engineering and management computations. Commonly, such uncertainties are included in the design process by introducing simplified hypothesis and safety or design factors.

Multi-Objective Welded Beam Optimization using Neutrosophic Goal Programming Technique

This paper investigates multi–objective Neutrosophic Goal Optimization (NSGO) approach to optimize the cost of welding and deflection at the tip of a welded steel beam, while the maximum shear stress in the weld group, maximum bending stress in the beam, and buckling load of the beam have been considered as constraints.

Neutrosophic Operational Research, 2nd volume

This book treats all kind of data in neutrosophic environment, with real-life applications, approaching topics as linear programming problem, linear fractional programming, integer programming, triangular neutrosophic numbers, single valued triangular neutrosophic number, neutrosophic optimization, goal programming problem, Taylor series, multi-objective programming problem, neutrosophic geometric programming, neutrosophic topology, neutrosophic open set, neutrosophic semi-open set, neutrosophic continuous function, cylindrical skin plate design, neutrosophic MULTIMOORA, alternative solutions, decision matrix, ratio system, reference point method, full multiplicative form, ordinal dominance, standard error, market research, and so on. The selected papers deal with the alleviation of world changes, including changing demographics, accelerating globalization, rising environmental concerns, evolving societal relationships, growing ethical and governance concern, expanding the impact of technology; some of these changes have impacted negatively the economic growth of private firms, governments, communities, and the whole society.

Neural Information Processing

The three-volume set of LNCS 11953, 11954, and 11955 constitutes the proceedings of the 26th International Conference on Neural Information Processing, ICONIP 2019, held in Sydney, Australia, in December 2019. The 173 full papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from 645 submissions. The papers address the emerging topics of theoretical research, empirical studies, and applications of neural information processing techniques across different domains. The second volume, LNCS 11954, is organized in topical sections on image processing by neural techniques; learning from incomplete data; model compression and optimisation; neural learning models; neural network applications; and social network computing.

Autophagy: Biology and Diseases

This book consists of 3 volumes: Basic Science (Volume 1), Clinical Science (Volume 2) and Technology and Methodology (Volume 3). Volume 2 focuses on the clinical aspects of autophagy research, discussing the role of autophagy in neuropsychiatric disorders, the cardiovascular, immune, digestive and endocrine systems, as well as tumors, infection, the kidney, and the respiratory and hematological systems. It also addresses autophagy-related drug development. Written and edited by a team of 90 experts, and presenting the state of the art in autophagy research, this book is a valuable reference resource for researchers and clinicians alike. It can also be used as supplementary material for graduate students majoring in biology and medicine
