The twenty circular walks in this volume vary in length from 4 to 6 and three quarter miles and are enjoyable all the year round. The author has divided the routes into seasons to show each at its very best. There are also notes on what can be seen along the way from castles to timber-framed houses and from butterflies and moths to dog roses in the hedgerow. These walks also offer the chance to visit Ashdown Forest and the Airman's Grave, Robertsbridge with its unusual clock-tower memorial, Firle Beacon one of the highest points on the South Downs and Rye harbour and its nature reserve.
The twenty circular walks in this volume vary in length from 21/4 to 71/4 miles and are enjoyable all year round. The author has divided the routes into seasons to show each at its very best; whether it be a woodland cloaked in the warm, golden colours of Autumn; the crisp, clear views of a Winter landscape, a fragrant carpet of bluebells nodding in a gentle Spring breeze; or the lush tapestry of wildflowers in a Summer meadow. Each walk is described in detail with information on points of interest that are likely to be seen along the way. In addition there are details on where to park and where to stop for refreshments. Each route has its own accompanying sketch map which is numbered to correspond with the numbered paragraphs in the text so that walkers can see at a glance where they are. David Weller lives in Surrey and has been walking the county for many years. He is also the author of many local walking guides including Drive and Stroll in Surrey, Pub Walks in the Surrey Hills, Kiddiwalks in Surrey and Pocket Pub Walks in Surrey. Due in 6th September.
