Unveiling the Tumor Microenvironment by Machine Learning to Develop New Immunotherapeutic Strategies (Volume I.B)

The tumor microenvironment (TME) plays a critical role in tumor proliferation, progression, and therapeutic responses. TME is a complex network of cancer cells, stromal cells, and, most importantly, infiltrating immune cells. Cancer cells regulate numerous biological functions through direct or indirect interaction with TME components. Emerging evidence suggests that TME crucially influences the response to both chemotherapy and immunotherapy. As scientific research has entered the big data era with the fast development of high-throughput sequencing technologies, machine learning has been gradually widely applied to extract important knowledge from big data bioinformatics. Thus, characterizing the TME landscape in cancer and identifying different immune-related TME phenotypes using machine learning-based bioinformatics analyses, in vitro experiments, and in vivo experiments are of great interest and significance.

Clinical Application of Psychiatric Assessment and Treatment in Psychosomatic Diseases

Psychosomatic diseases are a group of diseases closely related to psychosocial factors but mainly manifested by somatic symptoms, involving respiratory, digestive, endocrine, and other systems. As a result, the lack of consensus on its diagnosis has plagued clinical treatment in internal medicine, surgery, and psychiatry for decades. In recent years, research on the pathogenesis of psychosomatic diseases has made significant progress. For example, Franz Alexander believes that unresolved subconscious conflicts are the main cause of psychosomatic disorders. The subconscious psychological conflict is caused by the changes in the functional activities of the autonomic nervous system, acting on ...

Eating Behavior and Chronic Diseases: Research Evidence from Population Studies

Eating behavior is a major lifestyle-related influencing factor of non-communicable chronic diseases (NCDs), particularly overweight/obesity, and metabolism syndrome (MetS). Typically, eating behavior refers not only to dietary patterns but also to nutrient intake. From the public health perspective, population-based evidence regarding healthy eating is of significance for policy developments regarding NCDs prevention. Eating behavior is time and economic status dependent, which may change as age or/and socio-economic status changes. This occurs not only in developing societies but also in economically settled communities. Therefore, although relationships between eating behaviors (dietary p...
