This new book focuses on the core aspects of sugarcane biotechnological transformation and advanced approaches for augmenting plant development and production through intrinsic/extrinsic variations. It presents comprehensive and updated information on sugarcane crop management in response to adverse climatic variables for sustainable production, discussing innovative interventions for how sugarcane copes with environmental stresses and the role of biochar on sugarcane crop improvement at different growth periods during stress. Management of abiotic stresses in sugarcane through conventional and molecular approaches is also covered as are developments in biotechnological approaches and their impact on sugarcane output. Various techniques used in different countries for improving sugarcane output, handling pests, and improvement of harvest quality are also reviewed. Different approaches that support improvement of sugarcane as a renewable source of bioenergy are discussed as well.
