Este libro producto de la investigación sobre el suicidio se constituye en pionero en la ciudad de Santa Marta y en el departamento del Magdalena en lo que respecta al tema. Para estos dos entes territoriales es mucho más valioso, puesto que contiene estadísticas del suceso consumado suicida de los últimos diez años. Si bien las estadísticas pasan aña tras años, consideramos que con el presente libro no sucederá, dado al contenido distinto de los cuadros estadísticos. Éstos últimos son de fácil consecución y actualización por aquellos lectores que deseen aplicar los conocimientos que aportamos, y de este modo contribuir con la prevención del suicidio.
