What is Red? Is it just the colour of a rose or blood or does it have some other significance too? We humans, since time immemorial, have been very intensely emotional creatures. Red is one such color around which our whole existence revolves. Red is the color of hearts and roses, of a boy expressing his love or gifting his girl on each valentine, of love and desire, of the emotion a woman has for her man every time he showers her with his faith and tenderness. Red is the color that grows a man’s passion and aggression for his wife when she looks extremely beautiful and innocent or comes out feisty and bold and it is the same color that shows their strength, power and determination to fight and protect one another. Red is what everyone relates rape with and it is also the colour associated with the raging fire or anger when someone tries to hurt their closed ones. The book Red here is one such inspirational depiction of all the emotional aspects associated with the color Red

This work is a complete history of the partnership between the Department of State and the United States Marine Corps. From its formation in 1775, the Corps developed a close working relationship with the diplomatic service of the Continental Congress and later, in 1798, with the newly created United States Department of State. The Marines accompanied U.S. diplomats to France in 1778 and worked closely with the State Department during the Barbary Wars and the opening of China. In 1905, an executive order by Theodore Roosevelt established a Marine Legation Guard, and the Corps played an increasingly important role in embassies across the globe. Today, the war on terrorism highlights this important relationship as Marines guard some of the most dangerous embassies in the world.

The Last Blank Spaces

The challenge of opening Africa and Australia to British imperial influence fell to a coterie of proto-professional explorers who sought knowledge, adventure, and fame but often experienced confusion, fear, and failure. The Last Blank Spaces follows the arc of these explorations, from idea to practice, intention to outcome, myth to reality.

"This is a wonderfully measured, insightful, comprehensive treatment of the subject that will, in my estimation, become a standard not only for the academic community but also for the policy and intelligence community."—Dirk Vandewalle, Dartmouth College

Civilizations of great diversity have succeeded each other or co-existed in Eastern Turkey, and most of them have left monuments of high quality. Hittite, Urartian, Hellenistic, Roman, Syrian, Byzantine, Armenian, Arab, Seljuk and Ottoman, their remains are all represented in the region. These include some of the most important sites in Near Eastern archaeology, in regions in and near the heartland of the Hittite and Urartian cultures. The Hellenistic cities reflect the introduction of a new civilization, and the Roman and Byzantine empires included all or part of the region, with the prosperous feudal states of Georgia and Armenia on their borders. Besides the Byzantine, three great East Ch...
